Huawei fell to fifth
Judging from the list data, Huawei has fallen to the fifth place in the world, and in the third quarter of this year, there is only 2% of the market share, which is indeed a bit regrettable.
In fact, Huawei's chip market share has fallen so much, I think readers must know it. The main reason is that due to the change of chip rules, Huawei HiSilicon has strong chip design capabilities, but it cannot be produced, which directly leads to a sharp decline in its market share.
In the short term, it is obviously somewhat unlikely that Huawei Haixin will return to its former peak. On the one hand, the extreme blockade implemented by relevant parties makes it difficult for Huawei to achieve a breakthrough;
On the other hand, the domestic chip industry chain is relatively backward, and Huawei has developed chips with advanced processes, so it cannot provide much help for Huawei.
Qualcomm ranked second
Interestingly, Qualcomm, as the king of mobile phone chips, fell to the second place in the world in the third quarter, occupying only 27% of the market share.
In fact, the reason why Qualcomm has fallen to the second place is not unrelated to the strong rise of MediaTek. After entering the 5G era, MediaTek quickly seized the low-end chip market with cost-effective chip products, and reached in-depth cooperative relations with many domestic mobile phone manufacturers, catching Qualcomm off guard.
However, at present, Qualcomm's new generation of Snapdragon series chips has been released, if there is no accident, it is expected that in the fourth quarter of 2021, Qualcomm's market share will increase to a certain extent.
But Qualcomm wants to return to the world's first, the difficulty is not small. You know, MediaTek, which ranks first, has grabbed 40% of the market share, while Qualcomm has only 27%, a difference of seventeen percentage points.
Even if Qualcomm has the help of a new generation of Snapdragon chips, MediaTek has also released the first high-end Tianji 9000 chip, which is supported by Xiaomi, vivo and OPPO, so the difficulty of Qualcomm catching up with MediaTek is self-evident.
Chinese brands occupy 3 seats
Returning to this list, Chinese chip manufacturers have performed extremely well, in the top five, in addition to MediaTek and Huawei HiSilicon, Tsinghua Unigroup Zhanrui has also successfully squeezed into the top four, taking 10% of the market share, which means that Chinese brands occupy three seats.
From the side, it is explained that Chinese chip manufacturers are rising rapidly, have a higher voice in the mobile phone chip market, and the situation that Qualcomm was once a monopoly has been completely broken.
For Chinese mobile phone manufacturers, this is undoubtedly good news. Why?
In the author's opinion, at present, domestic mobile phone manufacturers do not have the technical ability to develop their own system chips, and can only rely on procurement from third parties.
Nowadays, in the mobile phone chip market, the successful rise of MediaTek and Tsinghua Unigroup Has made domestic mobile phone manufacturers more diversified when choosing chips, and they are no longer limited to Qualcomm chips.
At the same time, domestic mobile phone manufacturers can gradually get rid of their dependence on Qualcomm, and the risk of being stuck in the neck will be further reduced.
Not only that, today's smart phone homogenization is extremely serious, how to break this phenomenon, is a problem that many mobile phone manufacturers need to solve, and the chip is undoubtedly the best solution.
Mobile phone manufacturers can arbitrarily choose chips from MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Tsinghua Unigroup to create mobile phone products with different positioning and reduce the serious homogenization of smart phones.
