Beijing, December 18 (Xinhua) -- The Third China Frontier Archaeology Forum, sponsored by the Chinese Archaeological Society and the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, opened in Beijing on the 18th, and representatives of experts and scholars in the field of frontier and related archaeological research from all over the country gathered online and offline "cloud" to share 46 academic reports during the two-day meeting to share the latest excavation research results and progress of many typical archaeological sites.

Chen Xingcan, a member of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and director of the Institute of Archaeology, sent a written speech to the forum, saying that there is no frontier in China, and the ever-changing archaeological work results are colorful and dazzling, showing that the position of frontier archaeology in Chinese archaeology and even world archaeology is becoming more and more important.

He put forward three expectations for frontier archaeology: First, he hoped that frontier archaeologists would make good use of the problem-oriented, not forget the discipline construction, and accumulate, summarize, and sublimate the discipline applications, methods and theories in the practice of frontier archaeology, which is the foundation for frontier archaeology to have more and more bright prospects.

The second is to hope that in the future, frontier archaeology will have more exchanges and more interaction with the mainland, jointly promote and prosper the development of Chinese archaeology, and enter the "golden age" of Chinese archaeology together.

Third, the China Frontier Archaeology Forum is becoming more and more large-scale and influential, in view of this, I hope to be able to systematically record everyone's ideas, research and discoveries, and it is recommended to publish the "Anthology of the China Frontier Archaeological Forum".

Wei Jian, director of the Frontier Archaeology Professional Committee of the Chinese Archaeological Society and professor of Chinese Min University, said in his speech that 2021 is a year of celebration of the glorious experience of Chinese archaeology for a hundred years, and in the past 100 years, the archaeology of China's frontier areas has also achieved remarkable results. As an important part of Chinese archaeology, frontier archaeology is not only an important means to maintain national unity and national unity, but also of great significance to explore the historical process of the formation of the Chinese nation's pluralistic and integrated pattern.

In terms of building an academic system for archaeological research in China's frontiers, Wei Jian pointed out that first, we must fully understand the particularity and importance of frontier archaeology, continue to promote archaeological research on frontiers, and empirically prove the consciousness of the Chinese national community and the pattern of pluralism and integration of Chinese civilization with archaeological results; second, we must expand our international vision, establish an international vision, base ourselves on the location advantages of border areas, deeply promote Silk Road research, and promote international academic exchanges; third, we must accelerate the collation and publication of archaeological data in border areas, and launch comprehensive and high-level research results Fourth, it is necessary to integrate the research forces of frontier archaeology throughout the country and promote the continuous development and progress of frontier archaeology; fifth, we must give full play to the advantages of archaeological research in seeing things through and seeing people, and make positive contributions to the construction of a disciplinary system, academic system and discourse system of frontier archaeology with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style, and Chinese style.

It is understood that the China Frontier Archaeology Forum was jointly organized by the Frontier Ethnic and Religious Archaeology Research Office of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Frontier Archaeology Professional Committee of the Chinese Archaeological Society, and the Frontier Archaeology Research Center of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and representatives from the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Archaeological Research Center of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Archaeological Research Center of the National Museum, and the Archaeological Research Institute of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Tibet, Gansu, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and other provinces and regions.
