My name is Guo Zhiheng, and I am a male nurse in the intensive care unit of Tongren Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Graduated from Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as a male student studying nursing, I am special and ordinary. Our school has more than 40 male nurses graduating a year, most of whom go to hospitals in various provinces and cities across the country, and some of them study abroad, and some of them leave nursing positions and walk out of the medical industry. The reason is that some people say: "I am a professional transfer, and I don't want to study nursing myself." Some people say: "Nurses have a low status, less money and more services, I am a big boss who is not willing to do it." I am also a member of the professional transfer, many people like me, may be the graduation confusion, because after learning this highly professional major, graduation found that they know the most about nursing, and did not give up the nursing position, or the internship experience is quite good, think that it is a good career, and get a strong sense of professional honor. For me, the clinical work experienced during the internship is far less than the tall in the books, but there is no lack of thrills, especially when the rescue is carried out, I can only stand on the side in a daze, thinking of helping to rescue, but I am at a loss of measure, I can only help the teacher to take things, after each rescue, I will feel lost and confused, and reflect on whether I am suitable for this work of saving lives and helping the injured. It is this reflection that allows me to continue to learn and actively explore.

Graduated, running around looking for a hospital job, found that there is no imaginary ease, just in time to graduate at the same time as the four-year and five-year undergraduate nursing, employment pressure increased sharply, and finally luckily entered shanghai Tongren Hospital, and fixed in the emergency department, busy and tense working atmosphere, all kinds of machine alarms, patients and family talks with the doctor's various medical instructions filled your ears, work and senior nurses to learn a variety of instruments, drugs and precautions, after the rescue carefully comb the rescue process, Adjusting my own work rhythm, but also with the support of the nursing department to go out to study many times, let me quickly adapt to the work of the emergency department, but encountered a lot of patients who delayed the best rescue time because they did not understand or would not give first aid, looking at the self-blame of the patient's family and the pain of losing their loved ones, we can only tell the family afterwards how to do it, maybe the patient can still be rescued, but this can not save the patient's life, will only increase the family's self-blame, I think we should do something to reduce this regret, Enhance public health and first aid awareness.

Adaptation and development

In 2018, with the opportunity of the first science popularization education base of the Shanghai Nursing Association settled in our hospital, under the leadership of the Nursing Department, we set up a 34-person male nurse emergency science popularization team, and carried out a series of first-aid science popularization activities in the planned underground community, school and company in Changning District, hoping to improve the public's awareness of self-help and mutual rescue, help the public master certain first-aid knowledge and basic first-aid skills, and have been recognized by the hospital and the public. As the emergency team leader of the emergency science popularization team, together with the rest of the team leaders and team members, different courseware were produced according to different groups of people, and various popular training methods were adopted, and their abilities were improved and the image of male nurses in the hearts of the people was improved. The first aid science popularization activities allow male nurses to go out of the daily nursing work of the hospital, so that we have new development and attempts, and the sense of professional benefit in our hearts is greatly enhanced. In 2018-2019, we carried out nearly 30 times of science popularization training, radiated more than 2,000 people, and were reported by youth Shanghai, Youth Daily and Shanghai Radio, and also won the honors of the first male nurse organization excellent public welfare activities of the Chinese Nursing Association, the benchmark youth commando team in Changning District, and the innovative medical service brand in Changning District, showing the style of the male nurses.

Dedication and resistance

The vanguard of the fight against the epidemic, the colleague male protector bravely shouldered the responsibility. In 2020, the new crown epidemic swept the world, our hospital received the first case of new crown pneumonia patients in Shanghai, fired the first shot of Shanghai's fight against the new crown epidemic, there are male nurses in the fever pre-examination, isolation ward, airport customs, at the beginning of the epidemic, I took the initiative to enter the emergency fever pre-examination front line, in the shortage of materials, the epidemic situation worked for nearly half a year, until the international flight resumed, for external defense input, the hospital received a notice to send several nurses to support Pudong International Airport, I took the initiative to apply for support, Working 12 hours a day with the nursing colleagues supporting each district, the nucleic acid sampling work is busy and intense, but I am afraid that my family is worried, and I have not informed my family of the latest situation until the end of the support isolation, and after the family learned about it, the pain in my heart showed pride, which made me feel warm and worthwhile. On November 5, 2020, the third International Import Expo was held as scheduled, our hospital as a designated guarantee hospital, but also the recent large-scale comprehensive hospital, at the beginning of the preparation for the Expo, I entered the medical security team, in the hospital 24 hours standby, while doing a good job in epidemic prevention work and medical security, successfully completed the Expo guarantee work. 2020 has been accompanied by the epidemic all year round, fighting against the new crown virus in different posts, the new crown virus has caused a serious impact on the people's lives and the development of the country, as a member of the league, I can contribute a force in my post, let me feel proud, but also hope that I can join the Communist Party of China, for the party's cause, national development, people's happiness to dedicate their youth.

As young people in the new era and male nurses in the new era, we should keep pace with the times and reflect social responsibility, not only need to do our own work, but also dedicate our strength to social development and people's health. Healthy China, science popularization first, spread their own knowledge, improve the public self-help and mutual rescue skills. At the time of difficulties in the epidemic country, we dare to take responsibility, and dedicate our own strength in a strong, orderly and intelligent manner to overcome the difficulties together.
