A Yuan Dynasty tomb mural in Henan is now a peacock peony figure

The reporter learned at the "2021 Henan Archaeological Work Achievements Exchange Meeting" held on December 18 that in order to cooperate with the implementation of the infrastructure project, archaeologists in our province rescued two Yuan Dynasty mural tombs in Qinyang, Jiaozuo. This is a family cemetery of the Han Zhang gentry in the middle and late Yuan Dynasty. Among them, M1 deduces from the content of the excavated land purchase vouchers that its burial date is Yuan (1271-1368 AD) and Taiding 3rd year (1326 AD). In addition, the M1 tomb murals are exquisite, with patterns such as auspicious clouds, birds, cranes, pine trees, peonies, and peacocks. Archaeologists believe that the "Peacock Peony Figure", which is a mural of the content of the Yangzhai feng shui painting, is extremely rare in tombs, and combined with the historical allusion theme murals of the west and east walls of "Gong Shang Jing", "Xie Yu Hongmen", "Gong Cheng Body Retirement", "Junchen And Chen's Two Phases", it embodies the tomb owner's pursuit of the ancestors' wisdom of life, "Gong Cheng Body Retirement" and "Ming Zhe Bao", and the pursuit of "rich and noble and peaceful" life values.
