On December 15th, with the completion of the commissioning of the ice making equipment for the ski slope, the Laiyuan National Ski Jumping Training and Scientific Research Base undertaken by the 16th Bureau Group of China Railway was officially put into use, which marked the completion of the National Ski Jumping Training and Scientific Research Base with the world's largest platform group.

Laiyuan National Ski Jumping Training and Research Base Project, located in Laiyuan County, Hebei Province, is one of the three national ice and snow sports training bases for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and is a training and scientific research base for the construction of ski jumping national training, Nordic biathlon, freestyle big jumping and slope obstacle skills, snowboard big jumping platform and slope obstacle skills. It is reported that the two jumping slides of the base are built in accordance with the ratio of 1:1 of "Snow Ruyi" in the Chongli Competition Area to ensure that athletes are fully prepared for the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The base is built in two phases, including 6 jump platforms. At the same time, the project also built roads, snowmaking systems, cable car systems and ancillary works. Among them, the BIG AIR veneer big jumping platform creates three world firsts, that is, the world's first snowboard big jumping platform that can jump in the summer, the world's first aerial skill jumping platform that can be used in summer; the world's first to achieve the combination of two sports on the same jumping platform, that is, two different race tracks can be converted to use the platform.
Project manager Zhang Yongfa introduced that the project was put into use not only to provide services for Olympic athletes to prepare for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, end the history of long-term training of national team athletes abroad, but also lay a good foundation for Laiyuan County to develop the ice and snow industry with the help of the Winter Olympics.
Laiyuan County, located in the deep mountainous area of Taihang, was once a key county in the national poverty alleviation and development work, a key county in the Yanshan-Taihang Mountains contiguous area of extreme poverty, and a key county in the Hebei Provincial Ring Capital Poverty Alleviation and Development Demonstration Zone. In recent years, taking advantage of the East Wind of the Winter Olympics, Laiyuan County has accelerated the pace of transformation and development, and vigorously developed the ice and snow tourism industry. Laiyuan is located at 39 degrees north latitude, excellent snow quality, the average altitude of the county is 1000 meters, in the sub-plateau area, with unique conditions for sports training and the development of ice and snow industry.
In 2019, the State General Administration of Sport built a national ski jumping training and scientific research base in Laiyuan County. Since the construction of the project, the project construction team has overcome the difficulties of steep mountains, no working platform for machinery and equipment, and complicated processes, which lasted for 2 years and completed all construction tasks with high standards.
Riding on the east wind of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Laiyuan's ice and snow industry is booming, which is leading the county's tourism industry from summer tourism to winter tourism and four seasons tourism. The call of "300 million people participating in ice and snow sports" has brought ice and snow sports to the public, as the location of the national ski jumping training and scientific research base, Laiyuan is digging deep into the value of ice and snow resources, actively marching into the ice and snow industry, and gradually building a new pattern of tourism development of full-time, global and prolific integration.
It is understood that from the beginning of the snow season from 2017 to 2018 to before the Spring Festival, the number of snow tourists in Laiyuan County was only 50,000; and from 2020 to 2021, the number of snow field tourists in Laiyuan County reached 150,000. At the same time, Laiyuan County's tourism, hotels, catering and other related service industries continue to develop, and the output value of the county's tertiary industry will account for 62% in 2020.
