By 1944, the 300,000 expeditionary forces that had participated in the Burmese-Indian counteroffensive also included more than 100,000 Sichuan soldiers. A considerable number of Sichuan student soldiers were also transferred to the New First Army, the New Sixth Army, the Fifth Army, the Fourteenth Regiment of Heavy Trucks, the Fifteenth Regiment, the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Regiments of Gendarmerie Instruction, the Paratrooper Corps, the Interpreter Training Class, the Radio Training Class, and the Navy and Air Force sent to the United States for training.
