Whenever I conceive a work, I inevitably imagine a lot of forms in advance, and I like different styles, but when I pick up the paintbrush, I find that the two feelings of loneliness and fiery emotions that are always suppressed in my heart, one is contraction and the other is erupted, slowly mixing like a trickle. So what I want in my paintings is calm but full of emotion, not necessarily to express childhood, but to comfort, touch, and humanize. To say that the place where nutrients are absorbed, the feelings of the East are blood, the emotions are delicate, euphemistic, I like the works of the heart rather than the brain, and I do not like the things that are particularly fully expressed, the exaggerated exuberant kind. Compared with the Western art that pays more attention to breaking and innovating, although there will often be unexpected shocks and loves, the most suitable for my heart, like my own blood, the feeling is still Dunhuang, Changyu, Feng Zikai, Dongshan Kuiyi, and the folk flower-cutting lady Ku Shulan, which are full of feelings and sadness.
