On February 16th, "Daydreaming - Yin Yi's Solo Works Exhibition" was held in Xinjinjie Art Space (No. 1191, Nanjing West Road, Jing'an District).
Curated by michelle, the founder of the new industry, the exhibition features more than 20 masterpieces created by Yin Yi in recent years. Artist Yin Yi shared his creative concept at the opening ceremony, and in this century-old building, he launched a performance art of "daydreaming and painting mirrors".

The romantic self-consciousness of female artists
With the increasing attention paid to female artists in the art world, many female artists have taken the female body as the theme and constantly tried to break the male viewing perspective in mainstream art.
The works presented in this exhibition are more romantic and lyrical than those of susan Varadon, a spontaneous and innocent Post-Impressionist female painter, and Paula Rego, an absurd and rough Portuguese female painter.
In Yin Yi's works, the soothing lines, bright colors, blurred boundaries, and thick textures all reveal a romantic, lazy and surreal comfort unique to women. Yin Yi believes that the body is the carrier of emotions, and its movements, postures, and even curves and surroundings all project the current emotions of the owner and convey the way the self gets along with the world - whether it is confrontation or reconciliation.
Yin Yi's art, like the theme of the exhibition, is fragmentary, romantic and poetic. The subject matter of his works arises from trivial daily life, small emotions triggered in communication, or faint traces of memory residues. "I look at my work in an uncertain lighthearted or romantic perspective, finding inspiration in this serendipitous and random, and then superimposing my feelings about the events of the moment, giving poetry to the fragmented everyday. That's why there are always people who say that my paintings are romantic, lyrical, and poetic. Yin Yi said.

It is worth mentioning that Yin Yi's performance art of "Daydreaming and Painting Mirror" at the opening ceremony has attracted the attention and frequent interaction of everyone. "Mirror", in both Chinese and Western cultures have a profound connotation, it is a symbol of women's objects, can project both women's faces, but also can project women's inner world. Yin Yi uses the mirror as the medium to paint directly on the mirror surface, and the body image presented on the mirror surface is the presentation of his "heart mirror" and an extension of this comfortable and romantic "Daydreaming" series of paintings.

In the performance art of "Painting the Mirror", in addition to clearly showing the process of her daydreaming to daydreaming, the artist has also carefully designed interactive sessions - the viewer can view themselves or take photos through the blank space of the mirror painting. By actively inviting the audience to participate together, the artist constantly reminds the viewer to "see" himself in the mirror and see the inner self.
This is also Michelle's bold attempt at curating this exhibition. In her view, the interactive act of "painting the mirror" allows the artist to bring the viewer into an immersive atmosphere and deepen the audience's understanding of the artistic concept.

Michelle believes: "The exhibition is an act with an interactive nature, whether it is a metaphor or a direct expression, the work conveys the artist's thoughts, and conveys the artist's perspective on things." The viewer, on the other hand, is always judging the relationship between the 'thing and me', wondering if what he is watching is what the work wants to convey. ”
