Shi Weijian, a national first-class actor of the Central Experimental Drama Theater, is the former director of the China Youth Art Theater.
Born in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province in 1935, he was admitted to the Shanghai Renyi Museum in 1949 to study acting. In 1956, he was transferred from Shanghai Renyi to the Central Experimental Theater. He has created nearly 100 roles in dramas, film and television dramas, and his main works include: the drama "One Servant and Two Masters", "Peach Blossom Fan", "Fenshui Changliu", the movie "The Legend of Tianyun Mountain", "The Legend of the Eight Immortals", the TV series "Red Rock", "Beijing Arrest Team", "The Last 99 Days", etc.
In 1981, he played the male protagonist Luo Qun in "The Legend of Tianyun Mountain" directed by the great director Xie Jin. The film caused a huge response after its release, and won many awards such as the 1st Golden Rooster Award and the 4th Hundred Flowers Award for Best Feature Film.
In 1991, Shi Weijian became the president of the China Youth Art Theater, during which he solved the housing problem of dozens of people, and also established the Qingyi Building in the Capital Oriental Plaza.
