The titanic is divided into three types of cabins, and the menu standard of each cabin is different, from fresh fruit to abalone wings, let's take a look at it together!
Third class
Third-class menu
The Titanic has 709 third-class passengers, most of them immigrants from Europe, and the price of the third-class class is 3–8 pounds/15–40 US dollars, which is 350 to 900 US dollars today.
Traveling on the Titanic isn't cheap, and the poorest people in Europe can't afford tickets.
However, third-class passengers are also well taken care of. Although their accommodation is relatively cramped, they eat traditional British food. For most people, the quality and quantity of food will be much better than they would at home.
Third Class passengers enjoy a three-course dinner, starting with rice soup, roast beef and vegetables, and ending with plum pudding, sweet sauce and fruit. Fruit, in particular, was a luxury at the time.
In the evening, they enjoy tea, cold meats, bread, cheese, pickles and stewed fruit. Later, in the evening, porridge, cheese and chalet biscuits were eaten for dinner (thought to prevent seasickness).
Second class
Second class dinner menu
The 284 second-class passengers are made up of business travelers, immigrants and tourists, most of whom are middle-class. Second class fares are around £12/$150, or $1,375 today.
Their living rooms are paved with oak paneling.
Eat pickled fish with polenta for breakfast. The dishes are of high quality.
Dinner begins with a clear tapioca soup served with a ball of cassava pudding. Diners can then choose from four main courses – grilled haddock with a spicy sauce (a rich sauce), chicken curry and rice, mint jelly spring lamb or turkey with cranberry sauce. Peas, radish puree, boiled and baked potatoes and rice can all be used as side dishes.
The meal ends with plum pudding and wine jelly, coconut sandwich (a macaron-like dessert), American ice cream, nuts, cheese, crackers and coffee.
First Class
First class dinner menu
First class fares range from £30/$150 (single bed) to £870/$4,350 (deluxe suite). In today's currency, this would go from around $3,500 to around $60,000.
In the first class there were people from the wealthy upper middle class to the top of society. These include American tycoon John Jacob Astor IV, worth nearly $87 million (well over $2 billion in today's currency) and Benjamin Guggenheim, heir to the Guggenheim fortune.
According to the surviving visitors: "The tables were filled with pink roses and white daisies, the ladies were dressed in beautiful shiny satin and silk robes, the men were spotless and well-dressed, and the string orchestra played the music of Puccini and Tchaikovsky. The food was great: caviar, lobster, Egyptian quail, quail eggs, greenhouse grapes and fresh peaches. ”
The feast begins with hors d'oysters and oysters. Next up is the soup – diners can choose between clear orga and creamy barley – and fish – mose-sauce salmon. Formal dinners always have soup and fish dishes.
Salmon is followed by a main course, and you can choose from filet steak, chicken or stuffed vegetable bone marrow.
Diners can choose between lamb, beef or duck, served with a variety of vegetables. This is followed by punch romaine, a refreshing and delicious cold drink. The next dish is a roasted pigeon.
