During the war years, many outstanding generals emerged in our country, each of whom possessed extremely high military ability and led our army to victory after victory. The person we want to talk about today is General Chen Xilian, the founding general of the people's republic. After the founding of New China, General Chen Xilian was appointed as the first mayor of Chongqing, but during this period he was twice escaped by black guns. So what's going on?
Chen Xilian was born in 1915 in Hong'an County, Hubei Province, to an ordinary peasant family. In 1929, at the age of 14, Chen Xilian resolutely joined the Red Army. Although Chen Xilian did not receive professional military education, he was a military wizard, and at the age of 19 he was already the political commissar of the Red Army division.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Chen Xilian led his troops to engage and win victories with the Japanese army on many occasions, and made great achievements on the battlefield. In the night attack on Yangmingbao in 1937, Chen Xilian's unit wiped out all 24 Japanese fighters and annihilated more than 100 enemy troops in just one hour. Chen Xilian also became famous in the First World War and became a nationally renowned anti-Japanese hero.
At the end of November 1949, the People's Liberation Army entered Chongqing, and Chen Xilian served as the first mayor of Chongqing. During his tenure as mayor, Chen Xilian was twice attacked by criminal and evil forces. Once, on Chen Xilian's way to Chongqing University, long-dormant hostile elements suddenly opened fire on the car in which Chen Xilian was sitting, and the glass in front of the car was shattered. But despite such a dangerous situation, Chen Xilian was still very calm and let the driver speed up, which avoided the disaster.
But it wasn't long before the enemy launched another sneak attack. It was night, and as soon as Chen Xilian arrived home, he heard a gunshot, and then saw that the sentry at the door had fallen to the ground. Chen Xilian reacted quickly, escaping from the pistol and shooting at the enemy, and the enemy fled into the wilderness. After encountering two black guns, Chen Xilian decided to annihilate the remnants of the city in Chongqing in one fell swoop, so he and other cadres discussed deployment overnight, and then dispatched tens of thousands of people to search and arrest. Thanks to everyone's efforts, the criminal and evil forces in Chongqing have been completely eradicated. According to relevant statistics, a total of 1,200 people were arrested in this search and arrest operation, and the people of Chongqing finally have a stable living environment.
By October 1950, Chongqing's people's livelihood economy had gradually entered the right track, and General Chen Xilian's term of office had expired. After leaving Chongqing, Chen Xilian returned to Beijing as the commander of China's artillery.
