A few days ago, Jeep disclosed a technology patent applied for three years ago. The picture shows that the patent is a transparent half-door part of the Wrangler.
Specific parameters are not addressed in the published technology patent, but the transparent half-door of this style was previously used in the concept car for the 2017 Moab Easter Jeep Safari event. At the same time, the 2018 generation of Jeep Wranglers (JL) has also used a similar design to exhibit, but it has not appeared in any commercially available models or options.
According to overseas media speculation, this move may be a response of the Jeep Wrangler to the Ford Bronco, both of which are representatives of classic hardcore off-road vehicles in the US market and the global market, and have a very rich range of spare parts and modifications. After the Jeep Wrangler launched the 392 model, Ford immediately began to develop the Bronco Raptor model.
EasyCar predicts that the patent will soon be transferred to the commercial field, and it can be selected as an original factory option or in JPP's modified accessories. Currently, JPP's catalog is produced for 2020, and the patent may be renewed in 2022 along with the new products unveiled by the 2021 SEMA.
