Three Galaxy S22 series models to get started: Ultra will be paired with S Pe

On Monday, well-known whistleblower Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) shared a video of three Galaxy S22 series models. The final design of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra appears to be on display. As expected, there are some significant differences between these models.

As previous leaks have shown, both the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will feature a similar design to their predecessors. In the video, the S22 and S22 Plus models look fairly familiar, although their edges seem flatter than those of the S21 model. Maybe Samsung is learning from Apple. After all, Apple has leveled the edges on every iPhone 12 model and continues that trend on the iPhone 13 earlier this fall.

Of real note is the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which will replace next year's Galaxy Note. For months, there have been reports that Samsung will retire from the Note line and bring many iconic features to the S22 Ultra. As you can see in the video, the Galaxy S22 Ultra model has a slot for the S Pen at the bottom. This used to be an iconic feature of the Note, but now it's adopted by the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

In addition to size and shape, the most prominent design element of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the rear camera array. While the S22 and S22 Plus retain the angle cut modules of the previous generation, the S22 Ultra has a solid rear panel with lenses scattered across the top left corner.

With the convergence of smartphone designs in recent years, many phone manufacturers are struggling to impress with their new phones. This is a fresh look for Galaxy phones, and it will be interesting to see how consumers react. This is the only Galaxy flagship model with a non-traditional look in 2022, and the fact that it could spur more people to upgrade to the S22 Ultra next year.
