"Violin Professor" of the Rostock Academy of Music and Drama, Ulrike Bals

The Rostock Academy of Music and Drama, founded in 1994, is a public higher music school in Germany and one of the Mediterranean Union of Conservatories, recognized by our Ministry of Education. The school was founded for a short time, but the historical background can be traced back to half a century ago, the school has a master's degree in the German system, teachers, cross-majors, and will also provide a year of auxiliary training for students who have obtained a master's degree in artist training, helping students to easily enter the company.

The Rostock Conservatory of Music and Drama has also invited a number of professional performers to serve as teaching professors, in a previous article, we have introduced the university's jazz drum professor Dietrich Verrin and flute professor Dilk Peppel, and today we are going to introduce the university's violin professor - Professor Ulrike Bals.

Ulrike Bals began studying violin from an early age, in 1986 she entered the violin class run by Professor Petru Montenu, then studied with Professor Petru Monteinu at the Rostock Conservatory of Music and Drama, and in 2001 passed the concert exam with honors, receiving a successful diploma in art and education. In addition to studying with Professor Petru Montenu, she has attended several master classes by internationally renowned professors, which has perfected her background in art education.

She has won several prizes in violin competitions in Germany and won first prize in the first International Violin Competition at the Schöntar Abbey.

From 1995 to 2013, she was a member of the Consedino Orchestra, performing under the direction of Principal Conductor Professor Petru Montenu, during which time she performed with the orchestra as a violin soloist or chamber music member at festivals in the United States, France, Italy, the Bolshoi Theatre in Russia, the Athenaeum in West Asia, Rome, and regularly in Germany, where she also recorded two CDs.

Since 2002, she has also performed as a viola. She has performed on radio and television with orchestras such as the Hiraliard Orchestra in Germany and the "Four Seasons" Orchestra of Romanian soloist Antonio Vivaldi. She is also a member of the Orfeo 33 Orchestra, conducted by Amaury Closser, which plays works by rejected composers. From 2010 to 2011, she participated in the orchestra's performances at the Bayreuth Youth Festival in Germany and concerts in France.

As a violin soloist, in addition to performing in Germany with different symphony orchestras, she regularly hosts solo evenings.

In 1997, Ulrike Bals began teaching violin at the Rostock Conservatory of Music and Drama, where she was responsible for teaching students majoring in violin, including those preparing for concert exams, students majoring in education or arts training, and students in secondary school music teachers.

In 2004, she took over the violin and viola group classes in both the disciplines of methodology and pedagogical practice. In 2014 she was awarded a professorship at the Rostock Academy of Music and Drama. Since 2012, she has also taught violin pedagogy and teaching practice at the Hamburg Conservatory.

In addition to her career at universities, she regularly offers master classes and thematic seminars at the Music Academy of Mecklenburg-former Pomerania, mentors students at the Rostock Youth Academy, and supports the development of musical juniors.

In addition, she collaborated with a number of church choirs in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Pre-Pomerania, organized regular concerts, served as principal violinist and was responsible for selecting stringed instrument players from among the university students at the Rostock Conservatory of Music and Drama.
