For many premature babies, the imperfection of organ development may make their intelligence lower than normal newborns, manifested by slow movement, inactivity, sluggish eyes, symptoms of drooling, and even at the right age.
Preterm birth is an important cause of children's mental retardation, and now there are more and more premature babies, and the prevalence of mental retardation in Children in China is also increasing year by year. Why is that?
On the one hand, with the liberalization of the three-child policy, many elderly women have joined the three-child team, the number of elderly pregnant women has increased, and the probability of premature birth of pregnant women has increased greatly due to social pressure and changes in the living environment; on the other hand, it is because modern medical technology has improved, and more and more premature babies have survived.
And as mentioned above, premature babies are not mature in anatomy and physiology, so they face the risk of various complications after birth, such as respiratory distress syndrome, intraventricular hemorrhage, periventricular leukomalacia, asphyxia, infection, hypoglycemia, nutritional deficiencies, etc.; these complications will affect the normal development of the brain, which in turn affects the motor development and intellectual development of premature babies, the more serious the brain damage, the greater the risk of premature babies suffering from diseases such as mental retardation. After scientific research statistics, among the surviving premature babies, 7.8% of the children at the age of 2 have lower intelligence than normal levels, and the baby's parenting process is like opening a blind box, and parents do not know whether it is a healthy baby or a defective baby in the next second.
So as a parent, how to judge whether your child has intellectual development problems?
1. Feeding difficulties
Although when the child is just born, in addition to eating is sleeping, it is difficult to see that the baby has abnormal phenomena, but if the parents of children with low intelligence, careful observation, can also be seen that children with low intelligence will generally be very difficult to breastfeed, these babies will not instinctively suck milk, under the guidance of parents can not learn, in addition to often spit milk, drooling, which may be the nervous system of the brain damaged.
2. Too much sleep
As we all know, the general newborn baby, the requirements for sleep are relatively high, basically just before the birth of the child has been sleeping, but as the child grows up, the sleep time will slowly become shorter, the child to one year old sleep time is 14-15 hours, the child sleep time is more than normal, if to a certain time beyond the sleep range, and is always sleeping, may be a problem of brain development.
3. Sluggish eyes, no chasing, no smiling
Newborn children generally have no expression except crying, but generally after 3 months of age, the baby learns to smile until about 6 months, and can smile naturally. When the child reaches a certain stage of development, the baby will be attracted to interesting things and sounds, can be laughed at, and interact with the mother's voice after hearing it. If you tease your baby with a toy or grimace, but he turns a blind eye, looks sluggish, and acts indifferent, it is likely that he is mentally retarded.
4. Abnormal crying
Soon after the birth of the child is generally hungry, sleepy, urine will be transmitted to the parents through crying information, such a situation, most of the parents as long as the comfort, the child will be quiet, or the voice slowly weakened, but if the child is born not how to cry, only through stimulation will cry a few times, and the response is also very slow, which may be mental retardation.
5. Serious backwardness in motor development
Although "three flips, six sittings and nine climbs" is a common law of baby development, each child will have a certain degree of difference for various reasons. For example, if the baby wears too thick and does not want to move, or there is too much meat and is lazy, it is normal to be early and late. But if your baby's motor development is seriously backward, such as not turning over at 5 months, not sitting alone at 9 months, and not climbing at more than 1 year old, you should pay special attention.
