In the "Book of Readings," it was written: "Patience cannot be tolerated, and tolerance cannot be tolerated, but only those who have measured people can do it."
The poet Du Mu also said: "It is gratifying to endure things, and Tai Lai is better than nothing." ”
Forbearance is not cowardice, not retreat, but a wisdom that knows how to bow down.

Endure humiliation to survive.
Mencius said: "If you can't live your life, obey it, so those who know your destiny do not stand under the rock wall." The dead who do their best are also righteous, and the shackles of the dead are not righteous. ”
Sometimes to endure humiliation, not because of timidity and lack of temper, but because of the desire to make big things small, small things, and minimize contradictions, injuries and dangers.
In the Chronicle of History, there is such a story.
In Huaiyin, there was a group of evil young people who humiliated Han Xin in public.
One of the butchers said to Han Xin, "Although you are tall and big and like to carry a sword, you are actually very timid!" If you have the ability, will you dare to stab me with your sword? If you don't dare, go under my crotch. ”
Han Xin knew that he was alone, so he drilled under the crotch of the butcher's pants in front of many onlookers.
Everyone laughed at Han Xin.
If he could not stand the "humiliation of the crotch" at that time, not only would he not have made a later achievement.
If he fought with the butcher at that time, he lost, he would lose his life; if he won, he would incur a prison sentence.
In the era of Wu Zetian, there was a minister named Lou Shide.
His younger brother became the Assassin of Dai Prefecture, and before leaving, Lou Shide said to his brother, "I am the minister of state, and now you are managing another state, and I am too much favored by the emperor." This is what others are jealous of, how are you going to deal with these people's jealousy in order to save themselves from disaster? ”
Lou Shide's younger brother knelt on the ground and said to his brother:
"From now on, even if someone spits on my face, I will wipe it myself off, and I will never ask you to worry about me."
Lou Shide said:
"People spit on you because they are angry with you. If you wipe the spit away, isn't that a violation of the spitting person's will?
Others will think that you are bumping into him, which will only make him more angry, and will find ways to kill you.
So if people spit on you, you have to accept it with a smile. Spit on the face, do not wipe off, let it dry on its own. ”
There is a saying in the "Yi Zhi Zhi Xia": "The bend of the inchworm, in order to seek faith, the sting of the dragon and the snake, to survive also." Essence is put into the spirit, and it is used, and it is used to be safe, and it is also used to worship virtue. ”
When a person cannot even save his own safety, no matter how much momentary power he has, it is only the courage of a puppet.
Stupid people will only compete and eventually put themselves in danger.

Endure setbacks, calculate far-reaching.
Su Shi mentioned in the "Theory of Chaotic Errors": "Those who have achieved great things in the past will not only have supernatural talents, but also have the will to persevere." ”
People who can really achieve great things will not lose their armor because of temporary wins and losses; they will not be discouraged for the sake of temporary success or failure.
Xiang Yu was once an invincible and invincible figure.
At the age of 24, he rebelled against Qin with his uncle Xiang Bo, and at the age of 27, he divided 18 princes on his own, and for a while the scenery was infinite, and he was not happy.
He described himself as follows: "My soldiers are still eight years old, and they have fought in more than seventy battles, and those who have been dealt with have broken, and those who have been hit have been served, and they have not tasted defeat, and they have dominated the world." ”
However, in the Battle of Xiaxia, King Xiang rode on horseback and led eight hundred soldiers to the Wujiang River, because he felt that he did not have the face to see Jiangdong's father and elder, and then at the age of 31, he killed himself by the river.
In fact, at that time, Xiang Yu did not reach the point of exhaustion, as long as he crossed Jiangdong, he had a chance to make a comeback.
However, Xiang Yu, who was brave and good at war, could not accept his own temporary defeat, so in the end he not only lost the beauty, lost jiangshan, but also lost his own life.
The Analects say:
If you can't bear it, you will plot a lot.
The more people who can't stand setbacks, they don't have big ambitions and goals in their hearts, so it's easy for him to calculate and dwell on the frustration and frustration in front of him.
But the more people who can carry the setbacks, the more they can become a great instrument.
Because they have considerable determination to achieve lofty ambitions, they can endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens and achieve great karma.

Endure the slander, the big picture.
There is a sentence in the Testament Sutra:
“
Those who can practice ninjas can be called powerful adults. If he cannot bear with joy the poison of slander, ridicule, and curse, such as the one who drinks nectar, he who is not called a wise man
。 ”
In life, we will inevitably be misinterpreted, and sometimes we do not argue, refute, and do not explain, not because we are ashamed, but because of a big pattern.
There is a record in the Song Shi Gao Fang Biography that Gao Fang was a judge of Zhang Cong'en in the defense of Lanzhou.
At that time, there was a military academy named Duan Hongjin, who stole the wood of the government to make furniture, and Zhang Cong'en was very angry when he found out, and wanted to kill him.
In order to protect himself, Duan Hongjin made a false confession and said, "This was all done by the high defense." ”
Zhang Cong'en confirmed Duan Hongjin's words to Gao Fang, and Gao Fang admitted the incident, and Duan Hongjin was thus spared death.
Soon, Zhang Cong'en took 10,000 taels of money and a horse to give to Gao Fang and sent him away.
Gao Fang left calmly, never acknowledging his wrongdoing.
Duan Hongjin, who had originally blamed him, felt uneasy in his conscience after learning about this matter, and from then on he also decided to repent and rehabilitate himself and become a man again.
The Testament Sutra says:
Patience is virtuous, and abstinence from asceticism is beyond reach. Ninjas have no complaints and will be respected
Although we often say that we should be innocent and frank.
But sometimes, in this world, not everything can show the truth on the surface.

There is a saying that for a while the wind and waves are calm, and take a step back from the sea and the sky.
