On the issue of vehicle selection, we have also made some efforts to buy a suitable car and lay a good foundation in order to make our later modifications have better room to play. We plan to make a one-sided ceiling for this car, just like the Loft structure we often use in small apartments, cut off the roof, make a "small second floor" out, and the slide thing will not be solved!
We solve the problem of space and height through the ceiling structure, but how can we let the child climb to the slide on the second floor? Loft apartments will have stairs inside and it is obviously not realistic for us to make another staircase in the car. After another brainstorming, we decided to make a cabinet that could hold things and serve as a staircase, so it was made like this, a stepped multi-functional cabinet.
But the problem doesn't end there, and after solving the problem of "going up" we find that "down" seems to be more tricky. The height difference of the "jump" in the car makes the slide have a slope, but the longitudinal length is limited, and the child slides down without enough buffer zone, which is definitely unacceptable to us, so it is necessary to increase the buffer area at the bottom of the slide. When he was scratching his head, Liu Peng thought of going to the playground where his daughter liked the ocean ball, which not only played a buffer role, but also added another fun function to this "mobile castle". In the end, we chose to arrange the ocean ball pool in the position of the co-pilot of the original car, directly connected to the slide, and equipped with a thick sponge pad, the children played safely, and the adults were also assured.
In addition to the fun of this car, we also hope that it can achieve the all-round function of eating, living and traveling, and truly become a mobile home, so the same water and electricity function as the home is essential, the carriage has added lithium batteries, inverters, the bottom of the car is hoisted with a water tank, and even a water heater is installed inside. After the overtime work of the modification team around the clock, we finally completed the final assembly of the vehicle on the eve of the campus open day, installed the new roof articulation bracket, adjusted the hydraulic lever, and fixed the tarpaulin, and our happy castle was finally completed!
In terms of the appearance of the finished product, we have not made a significant adjustment to the appearance of Kustu, its original parametric motion design language has been very dynamic, only the side of the car has added a body pull that echoes the theme of this modification. When we first proposed to load the slide and the ocean ball pool into the car, many people involved in the project were not optimistic about us, and the master workers also felt that our ideas were too fanciful and too difficult to implement. But after more than a month of all-nighters for our team, we finally made the moving Happy Castle a reality.
The modification time is tight and the task is heavy, the design team, the construction team, and the shooting team are working around the clock, and they have to face various unexpected difficulties in the process, but when we came to the children with the modified finished products, saw them lining up to play with the slide, looking for snacks in the cabinet to find gifts, the happy smile on their faces really made us feel that all the efforts were worth it.
