The original Japanese book "Philosophy of Saving Mankind" had just come out, and the Japanese Morika Shuku Headquarters Bureau sent me a copy. First, the title "Philosophy of Saving Humanity" is very impactful. What happened to humans? Does humanity need to be saved? What is the philosophy of saving humanity? I finished reading this book in one sitting, consisting of a dialogue between Mr. Kazuo Inamori, the honorary president of Kyocera, and Mr. Umehara, a master of Japanese culture and a famous philosopher. In the process of reading, a rare sense of urgency pushed me, making me determined to translate this book into Chinese as soon as possible, so that the two wise elders, Umehara and Inamori, could think about the fate of the earth and human civilization, including their profound worries, excellent insights and selfless minds, to Chinese readers, so as to arouse the thinking and discussion of more people of insight.
Mr. Umehara is a respected and maverick thinker of Mr. Inamori, who has written a lot of books, "The Return of Philosophy" and "On New Philosophy" with Mr. Inamori. Mr. Inamori founded two Fortune Global 500 companies with his bare hands, never lost money in 50 years, and continued to grow even in the depression. Inamori has always stressed that the success of Kyocera and KDDI is not due to advanced technology or catching up with trends, but because Kyocera and KDDI have a correct and clear management philosophy, which is shared by all employees. Kyocera's corporate motto is "Respect Heaven and Love People", and Kyocera's business philosophy is "to contribute to the progress and development of mankind and society while pursuing the material and spiritual happiness of all employees". For 50 years, Mr. Inamori and his employees have adhered to this corporate motto and philosophy. Mr. Inamori is an example of great success through the Path of Light, a perfect combination of pure idealism and thorough realism. From the fact of Mr. Inamori's success, we can see that Mr. Inamori's altruistic philosophy of suppressing selfish desires and "respecting god and loving people" can not only be used as a reference for entrepreneurs, but also deserves to arouse the deep thinking of the entire human society.
More than 200 years ago, since the British Industrial Revolution, mankind's desire to pursue "richer and more convenient" has promoted the development of science and technology and built a highly civilized modern society. Yet science and technology is a sharp double-edged sword, which in turn fuels the expansion of human desires. The infinite expansion of human desire destroys the environment, leads to the depletion of resources, and threatens the survival of human beings themselves. The global financial crisis, triggered by the most fashionable so-called financial technology, is the latest manifestation of this desire.
The earth's population is now more than 7 billion, seven times that of 200 years ago; the world's population is expected to reach 10 billion by 2050. The majority of the existing and new populations belong to developing countries, which also have the right to escape poverty and pursue prosperity, and will also aim for high economic growth rates in the future. The food, water, energy, etc. they want to consume will grow by leaps and bounds. And it is unrealistic to require developed countries to voluntarily give up a life of affluence. Can the earth afford such a heavy load that is constantly multiplying? Many people pin their hopes on the development of science and technology, believing that relying on human wisdom, there will always be a way to solve it. But Mr. Kazuo Inamori, who once developed the "Neolithic Age" and is known as a pioneer in the development and utilization of solar energy, believes that this is a fantasy of mankind.
The collapse of the splendid Egyptian civilization in 3,000 years and the decline of the brilliant Roman civilization in 400 years are the disappearance of human civilization in a certain period and a certain part. In today's "global village", if human beings do not restrain their greed and arrogance, if they repeat the mistakes of the demise of civilization in history, what will happen will be the collapse of civilization on the scale of the earth, and the entire human race will fall into a situation of no return. This is neither alarmist nor alarmist.
Scientific and technological progress, economic development and the stagnation and even decline of people's spiritual and morals are a sharp and profound contradiction in today's world. This contradiction not only causes constant strife between people, between groups and groups, and between countries, but also causes mankind to lose its reverence for nature. While plundering nature and destroying nature, human beings have also destroyed human nature, and while driving nature as a slave, human beings have gradually degenerated into slaves of desire, degenerated into "desire people".
The philosophy of saving mankind is to reduce the "man of desire" to a "man of conscience" and a "man of reason." The core of this philosophy is very simple, expressed in four words, that is, "altruism and self-interest", and in two words, it is "altruism".
"Altruism" has various levels, including "altruism" in the family, unit, region, country, and international context, as well as human beings' "altruism" of natural things. "Altruism" must become a common human value. "Altruism" in Confucianism is "benevolence", in Christianity it is "love", in Buddhism it is "compassion", and "altruism" exists in human nature.
"Man is for himself, and heaven forbid." A selfish and even self-serving person, his career and life cannot have long-term and sustained success. And if everyone only cares about themselves, ignores others, and ignores society, the result will really be destroyed. If the human spirit can be liberated from the desire for self-interest and exert the enthusiasm of "altruism" (selflessness), it can "help heaven and help" and make life and career successful. This truth is attested to by the outstanding contributions made by Mr. Inamori in the field of business management, in the academic field of Mr. Umehara, and in the fields of the sages of China and the world.
Enterprises, countries, and human beings are all communities of people. "Everyone can be Yao Shun". As long as the altruistic heart, that is, the conscience side, the rational side, and the truth, goodness and beauty side of human nature, are effectively carried forward, human beings can share limited resources, help each other and cooperate, cultivate and maintain good human nature, and create a "society of spiritual voice", and human beings can live in harmony with all things on the earth.
