Infotainment system defects? Mercedes-Benz plans to recall 227 vehicles

On December 13, mercedes-Benz plans to recall the EQS and S-Class sedans due to a software failure that affected the vehicle's MBUX infotainment system. Some drivers driving both models can browse the internet or watch videos while driving, and for safety reasons, these features should have been disabled while the vehicle was on.

It is reported that Mercedes-Benz plans to recall a total of 227 vehicles this time. The problem was initially discovered on an S-Class vehicle sold in Germany, after the company launched an investigation into the defect in November. The investigation found that there was an incorrect configuration on Mercedes's back-end server, which may have been deactivated on a vehicle that had the Mercedes me connection account installed and activated.

Fortunately, fixing this issue is not complicated, just a quick update of the software update, while Mercedes can solve this problem through OTA, and car owners do not need to go to local dealers. Mercedes-Benz officials also said that they have not received any reports of traffic accidents or casualties caused by the problem.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS currently has the same software as the S-Class and the same 12.8-inch centre display. In addition, the EQS can optionally have a 56-inch Hyperscreen screen, which covers the entire front area of the cabin. However, due to the shortage of chip supply, consumers in many countries, especially in European countries, are currently temporarily unable to install Hyperscreen.

It is reported that from late January, owners affected by the failure will receive a recall letter informing them that the problem has been solved.
