In June 1951, in the Tieyuan Blockade Battle, Guo Enzhi, commander of the 8th Company of the 563rd Regiment of the 188th Division of the 63rd Army, led more than 50 fighters to block the 1st Cavalry Division of the US Army for 6 days and 6 nights on a high ground, annihilating 820 enemy troops at the cost of 16 casualties, creating a brilliant victory.

Guo Enzhi belongs to the tiger, and he is as brave as a tiger when he fights, and his comrades-in-arms say that he has a heroic spirit that dares to go up the sword mountain and go down to the sea of fire. In February 1948, during the battle against xiaojiaying, in order to detect the water conditions of the Sangan River, Guo Enzhi jumped into the bone-chilling water, and when he got up, his body froze and fainted. When he woke up again, the battle had begun, and he took two sips of the hygienist's alcoholic liquor, took a gun and rushed out.
By October 1949, Guo Enzhi had participated in more than 20 major battles, suffered many wounds, and made meritorious contributions 8 times. I thought that the world was too peaceful, I could live a good life for a few days, and I didn't want the Yankees to stop and drink the Yalu River directly. In order to defend the country, Guo Enzhi's 63rd Army once again set foot on the battlefield.
In the fifth campaign, the volunteers rushed to enemy positions
In June 1951, as the fifth campaign drew to a close, the 63rd Army was ordered to organize defenses along the front lines of Lianchuan and Tieyuan to slow down the enemy's attack. Guo Enzhi's 188th Division was originally used as a reserve, but the 189th Division on the front line fought extremely hard, and the 188th Division was sent to the battlefield in advance. Guo Enzhi, who was already a company commander, led his 8th company to hold the 200 heights on the left flank of Gaotai Mountain.
Their opponent was the First Cavalry Division, known as the U.S. First Division. In the first battle, the record of the 160-year undefeated cavalry division was broken by the 39th Army, and the 1st Cavalry Division, which was not willing to be defeated, made a comeback after resting and replenishing, in an attempt to avenge the previous defeat with more powerful firepower, if you want to capture Gaotai Mountain, you must first capture 200 highlands, and the two tigers are fighting, who is better?

Although Guo Enzhi fought bravely, he did not blindly do it. On the contrary, he was also very particular about tactics. Once in the position, no matter how tired the soldiers are, they must first repair the "one hole and three people" before they can rest. "One hole and three positions" are air raid shelters, anti-gun positions, holding positions, and mobile positions. With this "three in one hole", the warriors can minimize the damage of enemy artillery fire, and at the same time can effectively fight the enemy.
In the early morning of June 5, the U.S. army began to shell the positions of the 8th Company. After the first phase of the bloody battle, the 8th Company now had only about 50 men left, and they knew the intensity of the enemy's artillery fire, and all of them hid in the bomb shelter to rest, and after the shelling lasted for an hour, the enemy infantry came up.
In the fifth battle, the volunteers held their positions
According to the pre-planned plan, when the enemy approached, Guo Enzhi fired a shot, and the gunner Song Naicheng immediately fired a cannon on each side of the enemy's front, back, left and right, in order to avoid the shells, the enemy squeezed into the middle, and then 4 60 shells flew from behind and landed in the middle of the enemy group, and dozens of people were suddenly blown up into the sky.
Guo Enzhi's second gunshot, heavy machine gunner Wang Senmao sprayed all 150 bullets out in one breath, instantly shooting a bloody alley among the enemy troops, Guo Enzhi's third shot rang out, and deputy company commander Teng Junying and two teams threw hail-like grenades into the enemy group, and then rushed to the enemy with bayonets.
Volunteer military machine guns strafed the enemy
The First Cavalry Division had never seen this kind of play, and their understanding of melee combat was submachine gun strafing, and in the "poof, poof" sound of the bayonet piercing into the flesh, the enemy collapsed, and they turned around and ran. The enemy's first attack was repulsed. Guo Enzhi thus received the nickname of "Guo Sangun". At this point, he ordered his troops to quickly enter the bomb shelter, because as soon as the enemy retreated, the shelling was about to begin.
In this way, 8 companies in one day repelled 3 enemy attacks. After dark, Guo Enzhi ordered: do not let the enemy rest, 3 platoon leaders lead a group to harass the enemy. The exhausted enemy troops were sleeping soundly, and suddenly the explosion of grenades sounded in the tent, and more than a dozen enemy troops were still asleep, and their weapons and ammunition were also searched.
Defensive warfare cannot be passive, and a combination of blockade and ambush is the best
Early the next morning, two enemy battalions, accompanied by 8 tanks, prepared to attack again. However, the soldiers in charge of reconnaissance returned: the enemy talked loudly with Chinese, saying that they could not attack, and simply bombarded the mountain with heavy artillery.
Hearing this news, Guo Enzhi smiled. He said to the instructor Su Wen: This is to let us hide in the air raid shelter, they do not shoot artillery, the infantry directly rushed up. Such a simple trick also wants to deceive us? He immediately ordered the troops not to enter the bomb shelters, but to enter the positions in their entirety to prepare for battle.
American wounded were carried down the hill
Sure enough, the two battalions of the enemy army quietly touched up, and when they were still twenty or thirty meters away from the position, they were beaten to death by a fierce rain of bullets. The enemy was ashamed and angry, and the planes and tanks greeted the positions with no life. When the fight was fierce, Guo Enzhi took off his shirt, bare-chested and fought with the American troops with bayonets, and provoked several American soldiers in a row. The enemy was frightened.
In the next few days, Guo Enqi led 8 companies to kill and injure the enemy in large numbers by combining blocking and ambushing. In 6 days and 6 nights, he repelled 13 enemy attacks. A reinforced regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division, under the cover of aircraft and tanks, could not help but have only 50 men stationed on the hill. By the time the 8th Company withdrew from the battle, a total of 16 casualties were inflicted, and more than 820 enemy troops were annihilated, showing the prestige of the volunteer army.
