Three regimental-level cadres were seriously injured! The regimental commander did not listen to the doctor's words and died, and the other two survived to become generals

In mid-October 1935, two regiments of the Kuomintang army and a reinforced battalion seized yulin bridge in northern Shaanxi.

The Red Fifteenth Army decided to take advantage of the enemy's unstable foothold and immediately destroyed it, ordering the 243rd Regiment of the Red 81st Division to besiege Ganquan, and the main force of the legion quickly approached Yulin Bridge. Five days later, the Red 75th and 78th Divisions attacked in the morning fog, attacking from the east and west at the same time to the defenders of Yulin Bridge.

By the afternoon of the fierce battle, the Red Fifteenth Army had completely annihilated the enemy army, killing and wounding more than 300 enemy soldiers and capturing more than 1,800 people below the enemy regimental commander. However, the Red XV Corps also suffered more than 200 casualties, as well as three regimental-level cadres.

The three men, one was Hu Jicheng, chief of the operations section of the Red 75th Division, who fought with the 223rd Regiment during the battle, and when attacking the enemy's last three Tuweizi, they were hit by enemy machine gun bullets in the left shoulder blade and were seriously injured; the other two were Lang Xianmin, commander of the 225th Regiment, and Liu Zhen, political commissar.

Both Hu Jicheng and Lang Xianmin were injured near the arterial vessels - Hu Jicheng's left shoulder was pierced, and the bullet grazed the side of the carotid artery; Lang Xianmin's leg was injured, and the bullet passed through the side of the leg artery. Liu Zhen, the political commissar of the regiment, was injured in the cheek.

Because of the injury to the artery, the doctor sternly warned Lang Xianmin and Hu Jicheng:

"You can't eat or move for a week, you must lie honestly in bed, otherwise, it will cause blood vessels to rupture and cannot be rescued."

Because of the poor medical conditions, the doctor had no more ways but to let the two of them hold on: don't eat anything!

After hu jicheng and Lang Xianmin endured hunger for three days, they couldn't stand it anymore, and Liu Zhen in the same ward deliberately teased them when they ate. As a result, he was seen by the doctor and scolded Liu Zhen fiercely.

Such a scolding saved Hu Jicheng's life.

Lang Xianmin finally did not hold back. On the morning of the 5th day, he got up and went to the room and got a bowl of millet porridge to drink. Hu Jicheng did not eat because the doctor scolded Liu Zhen. As a result, the next day, when Lang Xianmin defecated, the arterial blood vessel ruptured, and he could not be rescued, and he was killed.

Lang Xianmin's sacrifice frightened Hu Jicheng even more, and then he honestly lay down for a week and did not eat anything.

After 7 days, the doctor saw that his wound was growing well, so he asked the nurse to slowly feed him some clear rice soup.

In this way, Hu Jicheng survived.

After the founding of New China, Hu Jicheng was awarded major general, and Liu Zhen was awarded general.
