In 1793 the capital of Canada was moved to the Toronto area (the square area of the map), taking the name York York, when it was just a small town.
Original area name: Toronto Changed name in 1793: York In 1815 it was called: Old Town
The town is mainly concentrated in the middle of the four streets of the current Jarvis St. Jarvis Street, Queen St. Queen Street East, Front St Front Street, and Parliament St Council Street. In 1815, people began to call him the Old Town.
As the area grew larger, it first became a city in 1834, restoring the name of Toronto, the earliest place name. It is now called old Toronto.

If there is a line between the names "New Toronto and" and "Old Toronto", it is the fire of 1904. The fire burned for more than 9 hours and destroyed more than 100 buildings. The building in the middle is the Old Town Hall, queen west street to the north of the survivors.
