Recommended Films Based on True Cases – Ten (Part 1)

author:Happiness Crystal

Crime movies are a genre that can't be ignored in any way, and I really like this type of movie, which is intense and full of suspense.

From "Seven Deadly Sins" to "The Silence of the Lambs", from "Horror" to "Human Bone Puzzle", each one is a classic in the classic.

There is a special existence in these crime movies, that is, movies based on real cases, because of the real occurrence of either tragic or cruel crimes, this kind of movie is more shocking than the virtual crime.

Ten films based on true cases are recommended in this issue. (Titles in no particular order, personal preference)

Due to the large amount of information, this issue is recommended to be divided into two phases.

Part I: Memories of Killing

South Korean 2003 film by Bong Joon-ho.

Recommended Films Based on True Cases – Ten (Part 1)

The film is based on the Hwaseong serial murder case in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, and the case was still in a state of suspense when the film was released, so the whole film has been in a depressing and dark atmosphere, with foul-smelling sewers, muddy rice paddies, rusty iron nails, chopped peaches, and knots that bind the victim's hands and feet, bright and dazzling red dresses, and angry and helpless police officers, all of which tell the story of the murderer's perversion and brutality. Since the case could not be solved, the end of the film was open-ended, leaving the viewers into an impotent mood.

Fortunately, this case has the latest progress in 2019, and the South Korean police said that the suspect has been locked through DNA technology, but what is helpless is that more than 30 years have passed since the first case occurred, and the prosecution period has passed. But after all, it can be regarded as an account for this series of cases.

Part II: The Zodiac Killer

American 2007 film directed by David Finch

Recommended Films Based on True Cases – Ten (Part 1)

The film is based on the most mysterious zodiac killer in the history of American crime.

Zodiac Killer refers to a serial killer who killed several innocent young men and women in a row in the late 1960s. The reason why he is called the zodiac killer is because this serial killer once wrote to the police and the media, in which he called himself the zodiac killer, and the zodiac is closely related to the zodiac, and subsequent officials and media have called him the zodiac killer.

Why this arrogant murderer is so famous stems from the fact that he has continuously sent a lot of password letters to the media and police, claiming that as long as the password in the letter is uncovered, his true identity can be known, but after so many years, this mysterious murderer has still been hidden in the fog, and there is still no clear result for his true identity, so this series of cruel murders is still unsolved.

Speaking of this film, it is mainly from the perspective of the victim's family, police, media workers and other people who have more or less related to the case, telling the impact of people who have experienced this matter on their lives and work and the changes in their life trajectory, and it is recommended to watch.

Part Three: Texas Chainsaw Killer

American 2003 film directed by Marcus. Works by Nice Pell

Recommended Films Based on True Cases – Ten (Part 1)

This is a typical psychopathic murderer movie with horror elements, and the storyline is simple to tell a series of eerie stories about several young people who go to a music festival and encounter a chainsaw killer on the way through a small town. The plot is tense and exciting, there are reversals and fights, there is fear and blood, and it is a fairly good B-grade movie.

Since the recommended theme of this issue is a film based on a true case, it is necessary to talk about the case itself, the chainsaw killer prototype is named Edward Theodore Gein, one of the most famous serial killers in the United States. Unlike other serial killers, he only committed 3 murders in his lifetime, but what he did to his victims shocked the world and was creepy. But behind his actions, it reflects his tragic life experience.

Born in the United States on August 27, 1906, Ed lived in the shadow of his mother all his life, his mother was strong and cruel, and had been strictly disciplined since Gaine was a child, and the slightest disobedience was not to be beaten or scolded, and most importantly, he had always instilled in him the idea that all women are devils, so throughout his life he never had contact with women other than his mother, let alone married and had children.

Under the perverted discipline of his mother, Gain lacked an ability to communicate with people, and after his mother's death, he was completely at a loss to live alone, so he began to try to put on his mother's clothes and pretend that his mother was by his side.

When he was lonely, he turned his full attention to books, and thus had the idea of copying a mother. He first "visited" the cemetery in the middle of the night, excavated a number of newly buried middle-aged women, and then peeled off the skins of these corpses and began to make various human skin products. Gradually, he was not satisfied with dead bodies, he wanted to find fresher "materials", so he began to look for people to start! So he created the above-mentioned murders that shocked the whole Of America. But for him, who had no ability to communicate with anyone else, he was completely unaware that he was committing a crime, that killing people and killing a deer in his worldview were the same for him, and eventually he was identified as schizophrenic and spent his entire life in a mental hospital.

According to records, he was a very gentle person in a mental hospital, completely different from ordinary murderers, so although the film was created by him, there was still a big difference between creation and reality. Recommend friends who like B-grade films to see.

Part IV: Suyuan

South Korean 2013 film by director Lee Joon-yeol

Recommended Films Based on True Cases – Ten (Part 1)

Two American movies have already been recommended, so let's recommend another Korean movie. If there is a ranking of the most unbearable movies to watch, then this movie will definitely be at the forefront. Because the target of this murder is the innocent and cute little girl who has not yet understood the world.

The film itself has only watched the beginning and not finished watching, and the relatively calm narration under the lens language is actually very strong on the soul, not to mention that the story itself is not fiction, and the sense of reality is even more difficult to accept.

The criminal in this case has been released from prison in 2020, committed such a crime that is inferior to the beast and indignant, and he has only been sentenced to 12 years in prison, and it is true: hell is empty, and the devil is in the world!

Friends who are strong in their hearts can try to see!

Part V: Black Dahlia

American 2006 film directed by Brian de Palma

Recommended Films Based on True Cases – Ten (Part 1)

Next up is an American film, the name of the film is Noir Dahlia, based on a case that occurred in Los Angeles in 1947 in which a Hollywood star was killed and dismembered, the victim was named Elizabeth Short, because she had been wearing a black dress and a black hat after the death of her fiancé, people called her black Dahlia, and the case of her murder was called the Black Dahlia Massacre.

The general picture of the case is that one day in 1947, a pedestrian found the body of a "black dahlia" in a clearing near Hollywood. Her naked body was brutally cut in two and showed signs of severe beatings and sexual abuse. There are several chilling rumors about the details of her death. Strangely, when this murder was disclosed in the news, many people went to the police station to turn themselves in, admitting that they killed the "black dahlia", but in the end it was confirmed that they were only for sensationalism, eye-catching, there is no real evidence to confirm that these people committed the crime, so so far this case is still determined to be a suspense case, but the time is long, and if the murderer can be found today, it is estimated that it is no longer human.

Back to the movie, there are several films adapted from this unsolved case, this recommended one is produced by Universal Pictures in 2006, and the story blueprint is mainly selected from a previous adaptation of the novel "The Avengers of the Black Dahlia", which describes this case.

The whole film is touching, the visual feeling is terrifying, the sense of the times is strong, and the lens language brings the viewer back to the era when it is full of opportunities and crises. Recommend friends who like widows to take a look.
