At the age of sixty-three, the old couple gave birth to a boy named Gui'er. When the child is three years old, he is already full of energy, his eyebrows are clear, he speaks fluently, and he calls his father and mother without being taught.
The old couple was naturally very happy. When Gui'er was five years old, she entered a private school. He was gifted and intelligent, never forgot the books he read, and made great progress in his studies. Within a few years, he was able to chant poetry and paint.
One Chinese New Year's Eve night, it snowed heavily. Gui'er braved the cold and pasted a couplet on the door of his home: "The door is facing a thousand poles of bamboo, and the family has thousands of books." ”
But coincidentally, opposite Gui'er's house is the house of Zeng 100,000, the richest man in the village, and a large piece of bamboo was planted behind the door of Zeng 100,000. On the morning of the first day of the Chinese New Year, Zeng 100,000 was about to go out to visit relatives and friends, when he suddenly saw the couplet on the door of Gui'er's house, he was first surprised, and then turned into anger. I thought to myself: How dare you, a tofu seller, joke about the bamboo branches of the richest man in my village.
Zeng 100,000 visited his friends back home, passed by here, and ordered his entourage to call the tofu shopkeeper out. The old couple hurried out after hearing this, and when they looked, they did not dare to provoke Zeng Hundred Thousand, trembling and saying, "Great-grandfather, what noble work have you come to my house?"
Zeng Shiwan said angrily, "What does this door association in your house mean?" Who wrote this couplet? The old two did not dare to hide, apologized left and apologized right, and finally let Zeng 100,000 leave smoothly, and they repeatedly warned Gui'er not to write couplets again.
After Zeng 100,000 returned home, he thought about it, and this bamboo forest was indeed a bit conspicuous, so he ordered that the bamboo in the garden be cut in half. Who knows, the next day, the couplet of Gui'er's family has two more words: "The door is short on a thousand poles of bamboo, and the family collection is long in ten thousand volumes." ”
When Zeng Hundred Thousand saw it, his temper instantly came up, and he immediately ordered the bamboo to be sawn off. However, one day later, another word was added to the couplet: "The door is short for a thousand poles of bamboo, and the family has a long collection of ten thousand books." ”
After Zeng Hundred Thousand was teased repeatedly, he was eager to go to the door to catch Gui'er and teach him a lesson, but his brow frowned, and he counted his heart, invited Old Uncle Li, who was highly respected in the village, and pretended to smile and asked the old couple to send Gui'er to the palace to meet. After Gui'er listened, her heart did not jump, and she said confidently: "Tomorrow I will definitely go." ”
After breakfast the next day, Gui'er sorted out a little, put on a bamboo cloth robe, changed into a pair of coarse cloth white socks, and was accompanied by his parents to zeng hundred thousand houses, only to see that the old man was dressed richly and powerfully, personally received, greeted with a smile, and invited to sit in the hall.
Zeng Shiwan pretended to be polite and said: "Today, the contemptible people have invited you to come here and want to test you a few words. ”
Gui'er nodded. The minister then asked, "What fire is smokeless, what water is no fish, what mountain is without stone, and what woman is husbandless?" When Gui'er heard this, he blurted out: "Fireworks are smokeless, well water has no fish, earth and mountains have no stones, and fairies have no husbands." ”
Zeng Shiwan was very surprised to hear that, and when Gui'er saw that he had nothing to say, he said, "I also have a matter, please consult the old master." How many stars are there in the sky, and how many people are on the earth? ”
Zeng Shiwan listened to the dumb and speechless, and said in a social manner: "Heaven and earth are not things in front of us, so why talk about heaven and earth?" ”
Gui'er asked again, "Well, then I'll take what's in front of you and ask for advice, how many eye hairs are there?" ”
Zeng Hundred Thousand was asked to open his mouth, and had to say in a huff, "Admire, admire." But unwillingly, a couplet asked Gui'er to say: "Out of the water river shrimp wear green jackets." Gui'er made a clever move and said tit-for-tat: "The dead crab in the soup is wearing a red robe." "Zeng Hundred Thousand was blushing with shame, and his two faces were swollen more ugly than pig liver.
