Reuters reported on the 6th that Sogavare successfully passed the no-confidence vote with 32 votes against, 15 votes in favor and 2 abstentions on the day. During the two-hour self-defense, Sogavare trembled with rage, denouncing false accusations such as "corruption" and saying he would not give in to "the call of Taiwanese agents demanding his resignation," AFP described. Sogavare said he had "done nothing wrong" and would not bow to "evil forces" or "Taiwan proxies." At one point, he allegedly even angrily lifted his chair and knocked it on the parliamentary floor. Speaking emphatically to MPs, Sogavare said, "If I resign, it is a message to young people to take the law for ourselves whenever we are not satisfied with those in power," according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He stressed that this was "a very dangerous signal for the people and future generations".

In his remarks, Sogavare accused the opposition party that threw out the no-confidence vote motion as a "Taiwan proxy." He said the opposition's motion was "made in the context of an illegal attempted coup, violence and intimidation". Sogavare also expressed anger at the violence that had occurred before, saying that "we must not succumb to the forces of evil." He said bluntly that it was necessary to question "who planned the attempted coup" and "was it planned by foreign interest groups and their agents?" Sogavare lamented that "the innocent people of Maleta were deceived by Taiwanese agents." ”

The Solomon Islands government led by Sogavare "severed diplomatic relations" with Taiwan and established diplomatic relations with Chinese mainland in 2019, causing dissatisfaction among anti-China forces. Sudani, the governor of Maleta Province, who is deeply linked to the United States and Taiwan forces, recently told the Taiwan media that if the Sogavare government is overthrown, he will push the Solomon Islands to "establish diplomatic relations" with Taiwan again; if the Sogavare government is not overthrown, he will push for the independence of Maleta Province. The Australian said on the 6th that the result of the no-confidence case will further anger activists in The Province of Mareta.

Sogavare stressed on the 6th that the decision to establish diplomatic relations with China in 2019 is based on the consideration that "China is an economic power". He argued that it was illegal for a province of the Solomon Islands to establish diplomatic relations with other countries and regions. Sogavare also said: "The central government does not need to succumb to the interests of Taiwan and its proxies in this matter ... The Solomon Islands recognized the People's Republic of China and the matter was over. Sudani has claimed that the Solomon Islands should work with Taiwan to share democratic values. Sudani has announced a ban on Chinese companies operating in Mareta province and receiving U.S. aid. In an interview with Reuters, Sudani's adviser, Talifilu, said it was possible for Sudani to announce plans for an independence referendum in Maleta province on Tuesday.

Last month, militants in the Solomon Islands' "pro-Taiwan" province provoked unrest, entered the capital to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Sogavare, and ransacked Chinatowns and Chinese shops, drawing international attention. Reuters said on the 6th that due to fears that the results of the day's vote of no confidence may trigger more violence, ships were banned from entering the port of Honiara, and more than 200 police and soldiers from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea were on alert.

The Chinese Embassy in the Solomon Islands issued a statement on the 6th to once again condemn the violent incident in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, and warned that "the clouds of Mordau will eventually cover the sun" and that any attempt to undermine relations between China and The United States is doomed to failure.

Our Embassy said in a statement that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in September 2019, the relations between the two countries have developed steadily, and pragmatic cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the people of the two countries. China firmly supports the efforts of the Government and people to stop violence and control chaos. The relationship between China and China will overcome all difficulties and obstacles and bloom brightly for a long time.
