In December of the fifth year of Chongzhen, Yu lived in the West Lake. On three days of heavy snow, the sound of people and birds in the lake was extinguished. It was more fixed, Yu picked up a small boat, hugged the fire, and went alone to the lake pavilion to see the snow. Rime is thick, the sky and the clouds and the mountains and the water, up and down the white. The shadow on the lake, only a trace of the long causeway, a little pavilion in the center of the lake, and a mustard with Yu Zhou, there are only two or three people in the boat.
At the pavilion, two people sat facing each other, and a boy's shochu stove was boiling. Seeing Yu, Daxi said, "There is more of this person in the lake!" "Drink with The Rest. And disembarked, the boat murmured: "Don't say that Xiang Gong is stupid, and there are even more idiots who are like Xiang Gong!" ”

In December of the fifth year of Chongzhen, I lived by the West Lake. The snow fell for many days, and there were no tourists in the lake, and even the sound of birds disappeared. At the beginning of the day, I held up a small boat, wrapped in fine fur coats, around the stove, and went alone to the lake pavilion to see the snow. The ice on the surface of the lake is filled with ice, and the sky and clouds and mountains and water are one and white. The shadow on the lake was only the trace of a long causeway, the outline of a pavilion in the center of the lake, and my leaf boat, and two or three figures in the boat.
When I reached the pavilion in the center of the lake, I saw two people laying out the felts and sitting opposite each other, and a boy was boiling the wine in the wine stove. When they saw me, they were very happy and said, "I didn't think there would be such a leisurely person as you in the lake!" So he pulled me along for a drink. I drank three glasses of wine as best I could and said goodbye to them. Asked for their surnames, they learned that they were Jinling people and lived here. When it was time to disembark, the boatman murmured, "Don't say that you are stupid, there are people who are as stupid as you!" ”

About the Author
Zhang Dai, (1597–1689), historian and writer of the late Qing and early Qing dynasties. Zi Zongzi (字宗子), in his later years, was a native of Shanyin, Zhejiang (present-day Shaoxing, Zhejiang). In historiography, Zhang Dai, together with Tan Qian, Wan Sitong, and Zha Jizuo, was called the "Four Great Historians of Eastern Zhejiang"; in literary creation, Zhang Dai was known for his essays and was known as the "Holy Hand of Sketches".
