According to the New York Post on November 30, Chicago police said an 11-year-old boy was arrested for a carjacking with a gun and was believed to be a suspect in "several other" cases.
Chicago police said Monday that the boy was arrested on Nov. 26 and charged with a felony of carjacking with a gun. However, the police did not disclose the identity of the boy. According to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Police Commissioner David Brown told reporters, "Let me repeat, our team arrested an 11-year-old carjacker. ”

Brown described the teenager as a "prolific carjacker" in Chicago who was arrested on Nov. 26 after hijacking a 48-year-old woman in a supermarket parking lot on Nov. 14. Brown said, "It's a sad thing. He added that when arrested, the boy was driving a stolen car. There are reports that the car was hijacked in the nearby Evergreen Park.
Brown said the boy would be prosecuted as a minor, but investigators said he was also a concerned person in "several other" carjackings. Detectives at the Chicago Police Department believe the 11-year-old boy was a "significant player" in several recent other car robberies, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Law enforcement sources said the victim of the Nov. 14 carjacking was the wife of a Chicago police officer who was robbed under threat of a gun and the car was later recovered.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot also commented on the boy's arrest on Monday, while criticizing the judge for releasing the suspect in a similar carjacking case. He said at a news conference, "I will meet with the juvenile judges here soon to resolve this issue." We face a crisis, and it is a crisis for which they have to bear part of the responsibility.
