In memory of Formula One Legend team founder and manager Frank Williams

author:F1 Horizon

Briton Frank Williams is the longest-serving Formula One team manager to date. He has worked in this role for over 50 years and he has managed the Williams F1 team that has won 7 Drivers' World Championships and 9 Constructors' World Championships. F1 world champions Senna, Hill, Villeneuve and others have all played under him.

Frank suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident in 1986 that left him unable to walk. In 2012, he resigned from the Williams Team's board of directors and began reducing his workload in F1. Daughter Claire took over as a family representative and was later appointed deputy team manager, responsible for day-to-day operations, but Frank retained the title of team manager. Earlier this year, the Williams family left F1 after selling the team to investment firm Dorilton Capital.

F1 Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali said: "In this sport he is a real giant, he overcomes the most difficult challenges of life, fighting on and off the field every day to win".
