On May 31, Beijing time, according to the "Daily Telegraph", Chelsea has appointed Maresca as the new coach, and the two sides signed a 5+1 contract, which will be officially announced on Friday.

Maresca played as a midfielder and played for Juventus, Bologna and Fiorentina before retiring in 2017 at the age of 37. Subsequently, he worked as an assistant coach for Sevilla and West Ham United, became Manchester City's Under-23 manager in 2020, and moved to Serie B to coach Parma the following year, before being sacked six months later.
In 2022, Maresca returned to Manchester City as an assistant coach for Pep Guardiola, winning the treble with the team. In July 2023, he became Leicester City manager and led the team to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.
After sacking Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea chose Maresca after a lot of selection, excluding McKenna, Frank, De Zerbi and others. And for him and his team, the Blues paid Leicester City more than £10 million in compensation.
It is reported that Maresca's contract with Chelsea is for five years, until June 2029, with an option to extend for another year until June 2030, which will be officially announced today.
Maresca will also become the seventh Italian manager in Chelsea history, the first six being Vialli, Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti, Di Matteo, Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, with Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte all winning the Premier League and Di Matteo winning the Champions League.
