Since retiring from the army in 1993, Zhang Xian has worked quietly in the Hefei Lujiang Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China for 22 years, although some colleagues have accidentally seen the words "National Second-Class Combat Hero" and "First Class Meritorious Hero" in his resume, but he has never heard him mention these meritorious honors. It was not until June this year, when the Hefei branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China selected "outstanding veterans", that everyone found that there was an old hero hiding around.

In March 2015, Zhang Xian retired from the business office of ICBC Lujiang Branch. Before retiring, everyone's impression of Zhang Xian was that he worked diligently, treated people warmly and kindly, and often took the initiative to give up honors.
"Before, everyone was curious, why did Elder Zhang have such a high ideological realm? Later, when we learned of his heroic deeds, we understood and admired this veteran even more in our hearts. Fang Wenjin, a member of the discipline inspection committee of the Lujiang branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, said.
In October 1993, when Zhang Xian retired from the army and entered the Lujiang branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Fang Wenjin happened to be working in the office, and he had seen the meritorious honors recorded in Zhang Xian's archives, and at that time he thought that this should be a "big hero", but Zhang Xian did not mention anything about them. On July 24 this year, Zhang Xian told the story of the battle in an interview with the Anhui Channel of the People's Network, and many details Fang Wenjin also heard for the first time.
The 64-year-old Zhang Xian joined the army in December 1974, and then in a battle, with his heroic performance, Zhang Xian was recorded as a first-class meritorious service and was named a national second-class combat hero, and the machine gun squad he led was also awarded the collective first class merit.
"Such a high meritorious honor is rare in the province." At that time, he had many options for retiring from the army, but he finally obeyed the organizational arrangement and came to our county branch. In Fang Wenjin's view, Zhang Xian has a strong military style, hard-working, strong discipline, although he is only an ordinary employee in the bank, but no matter in which position, he strives to do a good job.
<h1>Do not forget the original intention, the new post silently dedicated to re-establish an example</h1>
After retiring from the army, Zhang Xian first worked at the front-line counter, and due to his old age and political maturity, he was transferred to the personnel department of the branch. Unfamiliar with the personnel business, Zhang Xian followed behind his colleagues to learn more and understand more. Personnel work should write circulars and reports, but Zhang Xian rarely wrote words before, nor did he understand the corresponding format, and sometimes in order to write a report, he had to write for several days in a row, working overtime every night.
Since then, Zhang Xian has worked in offices, logistics, veteran cadres, supervision and other posts. In 2004, the banking institution reform, Zhang Xian returned to the front-line outlets, and successively engaged in the management of important blank vouchers, treasury management, bill exchange, accounting file management and other work.
"Around 2004, the bank promoted business informatization, more than 30 kinds of bank summonses to be distributed to each teller through the computer, I will not use the computer, half a month did not sleep well, day and night to learn, weekends are also learning, honestly as a student, learn for half a month before slowly engaging in meetings." Since Zhang Xian was also responsible for the exchange of bills, he had to go to a higher branch to deliver bills on weekends, so since 2004, he had no weekends, and he insisted on it for 11 years until his retirement in 2015.
No matter in which position, Zhang Xian can quickly become familiar with the business and become a leader. And his efforts and sweat were seen and praised by his colleagues, and he was repeatedly rated as an "excellent communist party member" and "advanced individual" of the bank.
<h1>Firm conviction, veteran party members won heartfelt respect</h1>
In the Lujiang branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Zhang Xian is an old and advanced, but many times in the selection, he is very modest to give up his honor. In addition, although his parents were old and sick and the family was in financial difficulties, Zhang Xian never made any demands on the organization.
Why give up honor? Why not ask the organization? In the interview, Zhang Xian replied that the honor given to him by the organization is high enough, and he should give more opportunities to encourage them to continue to struggle. Compared with the comrades who died that year, he is still alive and very lucky, and should feel satisfied.
In March 2015, Zhang Xian, who turned 60 years old, retired, and although he left his job, one of his actions still won the heartfelt dedication of his colleagues.
"After he retired, what I admire very much is that he has never forgotten to pay the party fee on time, and every time he returns to the trip, he takes the initiative to ask if there is the latest learning materials, and his firm belief is very worthy of our study." Fang Wenjin said.
Zhang Xian has retired, but the organization needs it, he still responds positively, and has always strictly observed organizational discipline. The Lujiang Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China held a forum for retirees to solicit opinions and suggestions on reform and development, and Zhang Xian always actively contributed words and suggestions. He obeys the regulations on the management of retirees, consciously regulates his words and deeds, strictly abides by the party's political discipline, and never participates in any non-organizational activities.
