On the afternoon of September 22, the 100th birthday of Mr. He Yang, a seminar on Mr. Yang Zhenning's academic thought, jointly sponsored by Tsinghua University, the Chinese Physical Society and the University of Chinese of Hong Kong, was held at Tsinghua University.
At the meeting, Yang Zhenning delivered a speech on the theme of "I hope that people will be long-lasting, and the common path of thousands of miles will be common." Yang Zhenning's centennial birthday Yang Zhenning and Deng Jia were first friends. In 1971, Yang Zhenning first visited New China, when in addition to visiting his hospitalized father, he also met many relatives and friends, the most important of which was his closest friend Deng Jiaxian. That year, Deng Jiaxian wrote in a letter to Yang Zhenning: I hope that people will be long-lasting and have a common path for thousands of miles. At that time, Yang Zhenning did not understand this sentence. 50 years later, Yang Zhenning responded to Deng Jiaxian's letter by saying: "I think that fifty years later, I can say to Deng Jiaxian: Jiaxian, I understand the meaning of your 'common way', and I can confidently tell you that my next fifty years will be in line with your vision of the 'common way', and I believe you will also be satisfied." "
Born on September 22, 1922 in Hefei, Anhui Province, Yang Zhenning went to the United States to study and teach in the 1940s. In 1957, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics together with Lee Jung-do for proposing the principle of non-conservation of cosmology in weak interactions. His "Jan-Mills gauge field" theory is one of the most important achievements of physics in the 20th century. Since 2003, Yang Zhenning has returned to China to settle down and teach at Tsinghua University, making important contributions to cultivating and recruiting talents and promoting academic exchanges between China and foreign countries.
