Children's Favorite Picture Book Masters (10): The Fusion of Allegorical Art - Leo. Leoni (Part 2)

author:The moon says children's books

Hi there! I have worked in bookstores for 19 years, and in these 19 years, after 5 years of children's book practice research and 3 years of picture book story club activities. In my mind, there is a huge database of children's books, there are many, many children's faces reading, and there are many, many parents' memories of children's reading exchanges. Now, I would like to share my child's reading path with more of you who are groping on this path.

In the previous article, I introduced you to a picture book writer I admire very, very much, Leo. Leoni's life. Today, I come to share his work with you.

As Leo. Leoni's fan sister, in my picture book story club activities, I have repeatedly used his works to tell stories to children. For example, to tell the children "Little Blue and Little Yellow", after the lecture with the children to explore the mystery of color; for example, to give the children "an inch of worm", and then lead the children to experience the fun of measurement together; for example, to tell the children "Little Black Fish", and then play with the children ten chopsticks folding continuously; for example, to the children to tell "Vole Afo", and then we read the small poem together, together to feel the artistic conception and beauty of the poem and so on.

Leo. Mr. Leoni's representative works include "One Inch Bug", "Little Blackfish", "Aver the Vole", and such as "Alexander and the Clockwork Mouse", "Alphabet Tree", "This Is Me!" "The World's Largest House", "Theodore and the Talking Mushroom", "Crocodile Cornelius", "Fish is Fish", etc., his works are many, I will not count them all.

Leo. Each of Mr. Leoni's picture books is a thought-provoking little fable. I think this is also based on Leo. What Leoni's life experience determines. When people are older, they will like to share some of their life wisdom or life insights with their juniors. When you look at his picture book, it's like a kind old grandfather, using vivid little stories to tell you some truths of life.

For example, "Little BlackFish", this book is similar to our Chinese version of a chopstick easy to break, ten chopsticks folded continuously.

In a vast sea, there are many small fish swimming freely. Most of these small fish are red, and only one is black, which is a small black fish. One day, a big hungry fish swam over and took a mouthful, and all the little red fish were eaten by the big fish, and only the little black fish escaped because they swam fast.

It swam alone in the sea, and at first, because it had no companions, it felt very sad and lonely. Later, it slowly felt the beauty of the sea. It slowly became happy again.

Swimming, it suddenly found a lot of small red fish hiding behind a large rock. The little blackfish said, come out to swim, the sea is too beautiful. The little redfish said that we did not dare, we were afraid of being eaten by the big fish.

What to do? The little blackfish thought and thought, and came up with a good way! It combines all the little red fish, lines them up, and finally forms the shape of a big fish, and the little blackfish itself becomes the eye of the big fish!

This big fish swims in the cool morning and afternoon, swimming freely, no longer have to fear other big fish to eat them!

I don't know if you have found that often we talk to our children about reasoning, which does not make sense. The child is impatient, or does not understand these truths. Not to mention children, don't adults often do the same? The truth is known, but whether it can really be practiced or not is another matter.

But what if we use the storytelling method to tell a truth to the children? Just like the book "Little Blackfish", instead of dryly telling children that unity is strength, it is better to tell children the story of "Little Blackfish". This is why Mr. Nao Matsui, a well-known reading promoter, said that he insisted on reading with his children until the second grade of primary school. Then he found that in the long process of reading with his children, he had already said everything that a father wanted to say to his children.

After the content is finished, I will share with you Leo. Paintings by Mr. Leoni. His works, the text and pictures in each book, are due to Leo. Mr. Leoni's own creation. The text and pictures of the picture book reflect a high degree of harmony under the same author.com.

Introduced to you earlier, Leo. Before his retirement, Mr. Leoni played art and had solo exhibitions. He has a deep attainment in fine arts. Let's take a look at Leo. The style of Mr. Leoni's picture book:

I was not good at painting since I was a child, and I can't say how unique or in place the aesthetic of painting is. But, purely from the perspective of an ordinary person, I feel that Leo. Mr. Leoni's drawings as a whole make people feel very comfortable.

Speaking of which, I will tell you a little story about my daughter:

When my daughter was more than three years old, I once took her on a trip. Considering the problem of heavy luggage, when choosing the accompanying picture book, I chose a series of small fable picture books based on light and thin. Because the set of books was later taken to the children's kindergarten book corner, they could not find it. So I looked for a picture on the Internet, and the style of painting is a bit similar to the following picture:

In the hotel, I took it out at night and planned to tell my daughter. As for the story, the daughter listened to it with relish. After listening, she watched it herself and asked me, Mom, can you change it? I was surprised and asked her why?

This little baby replied to me solemnly, Mom, I think this painting is so ugly, I don't like it.

I don't have a dead heart, take out the rest of this series and show her, let her choose which one she likes. As a result, the little guy told me that she didn't like it. Because I think it's ugly.

This little thing has always been remembered by me. It is said that the picture books that are optimistic for children from an early age can refine children's aesthetic ability. I don't know how to draw, and I wasn't very impressed by this statement. However, in my own child, I really saw how picture books improved her aesthetic ability. Usually I'm at home, showing her and talking about well-known, high-quality picture books. If I hadn't gone out, I wouldn't have bought the books pictured above. But what I didn't expect was that I got this kind of feedback from my child.

Therefore, dear ones, when we choose picture books, we really have to pay special attention to choosing good and high-quality picture books for children. For example, Leo I recommended to you. Mr. Leoni's painting style, I believe I don't need to say, compared with the painting style of the two, high and low.

Read Leo. Mr. Leoni's work is a double enjoyment of listening to stories and watching paintings. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a perfect combination of story and art. If you like picture books, Leo. Mr. Leoni's work is definitely worth collecting on your bookshelf.

I would like to dedicate the above two long articles to the male god of the picture book world: Li Ou. Mr. Leoni. Thank you for giving me, and my children, and many children who have heard my stories, bringing a lot of multiple enjoyments of reading.

Happy reading! Share the dry knowledge of children's books with you, help you solve the confusion of choosing books for children, please pay attention to me, and hope that you can leave valuable comments, thank you!
