Public resume shows that Peng Bo, male, Han ethnicity, born in March 1957, from Nanxian County, Hunan Province, began working in January 1974, joined the Communist Party of China in October 1980, graduated from the School of Economics of Peking University, majoring in finance, on-the-job graduate degree, doctorate in economics.

According to The Liberation Daily, Peng Bo has served in the media for a long time, successively serving as the editor and deputy director of the International Department of China Youth Daily, the deputy editor-in-chief of China Industry and Commerce Times, the deputy editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief, president, and party secretary of China Youth Magazine, the vice president and deputy editor-in-chief of China Youth Publishing (General) And the chief editor of the Central Network Film and Television Center of the Communist Youth League.

From May 2006 to August 2012, Peng Bo served as deputy director of the Fifth Bureau, Director of the Ninth Bureau and Director of the Tenth Bureau of the Central Foreign Propaganda Office, and in September 2012, he was appointed full-time deputy director of the State Internet Information Office.

According to his resume, Peng Bo was a former subordinate of "Tiger" Lu Wei, who was appointed director of the State Internet Information Office in April 2013.

Lu Wei and Peng Bo have attended the event together many times.

Abusing power for personal gain and collecting money to amass wealth; violating work discipline and selectively implementing the central authorities' strategic arrangements for network information work; abusing power for lust and having no shame.

In 2019, Lu Wei was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The court found that he had amassed 32 million yuan in a number of positions, including the director of the State Internet Information Office.

In addition, he was also accused of entering and leaving private clubs in violation of regulations, accepting banquets at public expense in violation of regulations; failing to report personal matters in accordance with regulations; engaging in power and money transactions without any discipline and law bottom line, seeking benefits for his relatives' business activities; taking advantage of his position to seek benefits for others in the operation of other enterprises, and illegally accepting huge amounts of money.

On August 16 and 17, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection dealt with seven "tigers" in succession.

On 17 August, the official website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervision Commission announced that Peng Bo, former deputy director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Preventing and Handling Cult Problems, Xie Changjun, former deputy general manager of The China Guodian Group Corporation, and Zhang Xinqi, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress, were all expelled from the party for serious violations of discipline and the law.

A day earlier, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervision Commission issued a circular on the punishment of four central management cadres: Wang Fuyu, former secretary of the party leading group and chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was expelled from the party for serious violations of discipline and the law; Song Liang, former member of the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial CPC Committee and executive vice governor of Gansu Province, was expelled from the party and from public office for serious violations of discipline and the law; Meng Yongshan, former secretary of the party group and chief procurator of the Qinghai Provincial People's Procuratorate, was expelled from the party and public office for serious violations of discipline and the law; and Liu Xinyun, former vice governor of Shanxi Province and former director of the Public Security Department, was expelled from the party and public office for serious violations of discipline and the law.

The above-mentioned 7 central management cadres all have problems such as illegally accepting huge amounts of money and property and abusing their power for personal gain. Among them, Peng Bo, Xie Changjun, Zhang Xinqi, Wang Fuyu, Song Liang and other 5 people also mentioned that they had "resisted the organization's review" behavior.
