Beijing, 11 Oct (Xinhua) -- The case of Peng Bo, former deputy director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for preventing and handling cult problems, was investigated by the State Supervision Commission on suspicion of accepting bribes, designated by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and examined and prosecuted by the Wuxi Municipal People's Procuratorate in Jiangsu Province. Recently, the Wuxi Municipal People's Procuratorate of Jiangsu Province has filed a public prosecution with the Intermediate People's Court of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province.

During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial organs informed the defendant Peng Bo of his procedural rights in accordance with the law, interrogated the defendant, and listened to the defender's opinions. The procuratorial organs indicted and accused: Defendant Peng Bo took advantage of his position as deputy director of the Network News and Propaganda Bureau, director of the Network News Coordination Bureau, director of the Network News Emergency Affairs Bureau of the CPC Central Committee's Foreign Propaganda Office, full-time deputy director of the State Internet Information Office, deputy director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for the Prevention and Handling of Cult Issues, and other convenient conditions for the formation of his authority or status, to provide assistance to others in the operation of enterprises and control of negative information on the Internet, and illegally accepted property from others, the amount of which was particularly huge.
