Unexpectedly, Zhang Sheng was brainwashed and asked the Xiongnu to help Chen Feng. Originally, he was very angry at Zhang Sheng for doing this, and had already reported it to Liu Bang, saying that this Zhang Sheng was a traitor. Who knew that after Zhang Sheng returned, he used that set of brainwashed theories to wash him and told him that if you keep Chen Feng, Liu Bang would not kill you. If you get rid of Chen Feng, Liu Bang will destroy you next (the history books call this "company soldiers do not decide"). This set of brainwashing theories was really powerful, and Lu Xuan was also washed in an instant, and hurriedly told Liu Bang that Zhang Sheng was not a traitor and that he had reported it wrong.
His clumsy approach immediately aroused the suspicion of Liu Bang, who was already suspicious. Then the people on Chen Feng's side who surrendered to Liu Bang told Liu Bang that Lu Xie was secretly communicating with Chen Feng. Liu Bang then summoned Lu Xuan back to Beijing, and Lu Xie said that he would not go back due to illness, so Liu Bang was even more suspicious and sent someone to investigate. Then Liu Bang heard the news that Zhang Sheng was in contact with the Xiongnu again, so Liu Bang completely believed that Lu Xie was ready to rebel, so he sent a large army to capture him.

Liu Bang's doing this was also a manifestation of his serious suspicion at that time. In his later years, Liu Bang himself was almost killed in a series of avalanche-like rebellions of the princes (Yingbu shot him an arrow in the chest), so his suspicions were extremely serious. For example, originally he sent Fan Duo to arrest Lu Xie, but later he was worried that Fan Duo and Lu Xie would jointly rebel, so he let Zhou Bo arrest him and let Zhou Bo execute Fan Duo.
