The diary of the late ship king Dong Haoyun will be edited and published by the University of Chinese in Hong Kong and Tung Chee-ping, the eldest daughter of Tung Haoyun. In order to coincide with the launch of the diary collection, Tung Chee-ping will hold an exhibition on the introduction of Tung Hao-yun's life on the platform of Exchange Square in Central on November 24, and on November 30, the three-volume "Tung Hao-yun Diary" will be grandly launched, at which time Tung Chee-hwa, the eldest son of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will also attend the ceremony.

Dong Haoyun's diary began in March 1948 when he first went abroad to the United States to receive ships, and lasted until two days before his death on April 13, 1982, spanning 34 years and with a total word count of more than 1 million words.

It records the unremitting pursuit of China's long-distance shipping industry

The book is written by Dong Haoyun from the middle of the last century to the 1980s, from which readers can understand that the ship king has built a shipping kingdom with his bare hands and calloused hands, and can appreciate his eternal ideals and unremitting pursuit of China's ocean shipping industry throughout his life. Dong Jianping revealed that his brother Dong Chee-hwa has written a preface for the diary collection, because of identity considerations, the article can not be too "true feelings", she is "assured to express her chest", with emotional words to write down the infinite nostalgia for her father.

The eldest daughter, Dong Jianping, is one of the editors-in-chief

The Diary of Dong Haoyun was published by Chinese University, and Dong Jianping, the eldest daughter of the Ship King, was one of the editors-in-chief. Speaking of the preparatory work, Dong Jianping smiled and sighed: "It is not easy! In recent years, she has devoted herself to the construction and operation of the "Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum" in Shanghai, and personally sorted out and collected her father's papers and speeches.

Tung holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Library Administration from the University of Michigan. After returning to Hong Kong, he founded the Hong Kong Art Advocate Gallery, where he served as vice chairman of the Asian Cultural Association, director of the French Asian Culture and Art Association, and was awarded the Knight of the French Order of Arts and Literature and the Knight of the Legion of Honor. He co-edited the book "Dong Haoyun: Ideals and Achievements" and planned the establishment of the "Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum" with Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Accompanying the book is "Dong Haoyun's World"

The accompanying book is also accompanied by the sister article "The World of Dong Haoyun", allowing readers to peek into the legendary life of Dong Haoyun from another side. Co-edited by Dong Jianping and Zheng Huixin, Dong Haoyun's World collects more than 40 submissions, reports, papers and speeches written and published by Dong Haoyun in the 50 years since he entered the shipping industry, and selects his correspondence with relatives, friends and colleagues. To this end, Dong Jianping traveled further around the world to personally interview more than 80 friends and colleagues of his father before his death. On 30 November, the book launch will feature Tung Chee-hwa, Secretary for Education and Manpower, Li Guozhang, President of Chinese University, Liu Zunyi, and former President of HKU Wong Lai-song. Dong Jianping laughed and said that Huang Lisong was his father's "old friend", and he had a hasty itinerary, but he still specially adjusted the itinerary and "messed up" the time of several speeches. The ship king knew all over the world before his death, and it is estimated that the day's conference will attract more celebrities.

The record of life brought the eldest daughter to tears

In the "Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum" in Shanghai, models of the three giant ships "Oriental Star", "Atlantic Faith" and "East Asian Giant" are displayed, which is enough to show the status of these three giant ships in the Dong Haoyun Shipping Kingdom. In Dong Haoyun's diary, he also mentioned his favorite three giant ships.

There are also many accounts of family members in the diary. Dong Jianping said that when she was preparing to build the "Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum" in Shanghai, she had been sorting out the diary of her father, Dong Haoyun. Dong Haoyun writes a diary almost every day, for Dong Jianping, the cumbersome work of sorting out is not the biggest challenge, but reading his father's diary and recounting the bits and pieces of his previous life, which is a huge challenge for his feelings.

Dong Jianping said that at that time, he had not understood his father in many things, and he read the diary to know his thoughts. Perhaps because I am older now, I can better understand my father's thoughts. The records of his family in Dong Haoyun's diary made Dong Jianping cry from time to time.
