I believe that many readers who have only read the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" will feel that Zhang Zhao, in addition to being able to do some internal affairs, has average abilities and is very timid, and asked Sun Quan to surrender as soon as Cao Cao came. In fact, I think Zhang Zhao's ideas on persuading Sun Quan to surrender mainly have several points: first, for the sake of the lives of the people of Jiangdong and the stability of Jiangdong; second, Cao Cao's occupation of the imperial court is morally unreasonable; third, in order to prevent the Sun family from being slaughtered after the defeat of the war, surrender can leave a bloodline for the Sun family. But this is just a suggestion. After Sun Quan finally decided to oppose Cao Cao, the logistical support of Zhou Yu's front army was mainly the credit of Zhang Zhao. Although Sun Quan did not take his advice, Zhang Zhao never had any other idea, that is, to provide the most stable guarantee for jiangdong and the front-line army.
Zhang Zhao, a person, dared to advise Sun Quan, but I also felt that he was a bit old-fashioned. He dared to speak his opinion in front of Sun Quan, often accusing Sun Quan of doing something wrong, which had a benign effect on Sun Quan. When Sun Quan was proclaimed emperor, others suggested that Zhang Zhao be appointed as a chancellor, and Sun Quan did not use Zhang Zhao on the grounds that he dared to speak directly and had a straight personality. In the end, because of his reluctance to go to the court, Sun Quan was angered, and Sun Quan even set fire to Zhang Zhao's mansion to try to persecute Zhang Zhao, but Zhang Zhao just did not give in. It can be seen that Zhang Zhao's personality is fierce.

Then there's Zhang Hong. After Zhang Hong and Zhang Zhao were invited out of the mountains by Sun Ce together, they were sent to Xuchang for a long time, which can be said to be equivalent to sending an internal ying to Cao Cao, and through Zhang Hong's activity to produce a favorable influence on Jiangdong. After Sun Ce's death, when Sun Quangang's ascension to the throne in Jiangdong was unstable, Cao Cao originally had plans to go south, but it was because of Zhang Hong that he dismissed this idea. After that, Zhang Hong returned to Jiangdong.
During his tenure in Jiangdong, Zhang Hong mainly played the role of a courtier. In his early years, when he was under Sun Ce's account, he advised Sun Ce to pay attention to his identity and realize that he was a manager. When Sun Quan attacked Hefei several times, he advised Sun Quan to strike and recuperate more. Before his death, he also proposed to build a capital moling.
