Li Zuopeng, born on April 24, 1914, is a native of Ji'an, Jiangxi. He was awarded the rank of lieutenant general in 1955 and sentenced to 17 years in prison and deprivation of political rights for 5 years in 1981. After being released on medical parole, he was placed in Taiyuan. He died at 7:30 a.m. on January 3, 2009 at the age of 95. In his later years, Li Zuopeng studied calligraphy and read books and newspapers as his main contents.
