Liu Bei was the most powerful of the three, and he had Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and other fierce generals under his command. These top talents were loyal to Liu Bei, and even if they had a better place to go, they never thought of betraying Liu Bei. Liu Biao was also a very talented person, but he lacked ambition, and when Cao Cao, Yuan Shao and other tyrants, for the sake of territory and the world, were fighting for the sake of territory and the world, he guarded the acres and three points of land in Jingzhou, lived his peaceful life, and never tried to rob more land, but even so, most of Liu Biao's advisers and military generals were very loyal to Liu Biao. Later, after Liu Biao's death, they followed Liu Biao's son and surrendered to Cao Cao.
Although Liu Zhang's personality was weak, he was a good person and was very good to his subordinates and the people, but many of his important subjects betrayed him.
1. Zhang Song and Fazheng
Zhang Song was Liu Zhang's Yizhou bei driver, and Fa was Liu Zhang's military lieutenant, and the two had a good relationship. Thirteen years after Jian'an, after Liu Chun of Jingzhou surrendered to Cao Cao, Liu Zhang of Yizhou realized that it was the general trend for Cao Cao to unify the world, and in order to leave a way back for himself, he sent Zhang Song to send an envoy to Cao Wei to prepare to befriend Cao Cao. Zhang Song was brilliant and intelligent, but he was arrogant and debauched, and after Cao Wei arrived, he was snubbed by Cao Cao, which made Zhang Song resentful. After leaving Cao Wei, he went to Liu Bei's Jingzhou.
After arriving in Jingzhou, Zhang Song was treated with courtesy by Liu Bei. The comparison between before and after made Zhang Song feel that Liu Bei was the true prince of benevolence and righteousness, a corporal who could be honored, and a lord worthy of his follow, so with the idea of following Liu Bei, he persuaded Liu Bei to seize Yizhou and replace Liu Zhang.
Fa Zheng was under Liu Zhang's hands, and he was also depressed, and he wanted to follow a lord who could achieve great things, so the two of them hit it off and prepared to help Liu Bei enter Yizhou. Zhang Song and Fa zheng, in order to help Liu Bei capture Yizhou, they persuaded Liu Zhang to invite Liu Zhang to lead an army into Sichuan to help them fight against Zhang Lu in Hanzhong. After Liu Bei entered Shuchuan, he instead occupied the magpie's nest and wanted to seize Liu Zhang's Yizhou. When Liu Zhang learned that Zhang Song and Liu Beili should join forces to help Liu Bei capture Yizhou, in a fit of rage, he killed Zhang Song, and Fa Zheng had fled to Liu Bei's command.
After capturing Yizhou, Fa Zheng became a major vassal under Liu Bei. Subsequently, Fa Zheng also made a strange plot to help Liu Bei take Zhang Lu's Hanzhong.
2. Li Yan
Li Yan was originally a minister under Liu Biao and was very talented. After Liu Biao's death, his son Liu Chun surrendered to Cao Cao. Unwilling to follow Liu Chun to surrender to Cao Cao, Li Yan turned around and went to Shuchuan, where he made a county order for Chengdu under Liu Zhang. In 213, after Liu Zhang invited liu zhang to enter Yizhou, he also received a lot of money and grain from Liu Zhang, but he was unwilling to keep his promise and attack Zhang Lu on Liu Zhang's behalf, but instead did some work in Yizhou to buy people's hearts. After Liu Zhang's dissatisfaction, he deliberately created an incident, provoked war, and prepared to capture Yizhou.
Liu Zhang was the son of Liu Yan, and their family had been operating in Shu for decades, and Liu Zhang naturally did not want to cede Yizhou to Liu Bei, so he sent his generals, Liu Xuan, Zhang Ren, Wu Yi, and others to lead troops against Liu Bei. Li Yan was appointed by Liu Zhang as a protector against Liu Bei in the Mianzhu area, but Li Yan only symbolically resisted and led his troops to surrender to Liu Bei. Li Yan's surrender dealt a heavy blow to Liu Zhang, leaving Liu Zhang's army at a disadvantage, and Zhang Ren could only protect Liu Zhang's retreat to Luocheng, which also led to Liu Zhang's defeat.
After Li Yan went to Liu Bei's men, he was very much valued by Liu Bei. Liu Bei appointed Li Yan as the general of Taishou and Xingye and became his vassals. Li Yan also worked with Zhuge Liang, Fazheng, Liu Ba, and others to formulate the Shu Ke, which laid the foundation for Liu Bei's governance of Shu land.
When Liu Bei died, he placed Li Yan and Zhuge Liang as his sons Liu Chan's orphan ministers. Later, Li Yan was impeached by Zhuge Liang for his unfavorable supervision of grain and grass transportation, and was removed from his official post by Liu Chan. The infighting between Li Yan and Zhuge Liang ended in Li Yan's fiasco, and since then, Zhuge Liang has monopolized power, and Li Yan has never been reused by Liu Chan and Zhuge Liang. After Zhuge Liang's death, Li Yan also died of anger.
3. Wu Yi
Wu Yi was a veteran of Shudi. Wu Yi's father had a good relationship with Liu Yan, and after Liu Yan was appointed by the imperial court as the pastor of Yizhou, he took his family to follow Liu Yan to Shudi and has been working under Liu Yan ever since. After Liu Yan's death, he became a lieutenant general under Liu Zhang.
After Liu Bei prepared to capture Yizhou, Wu Yi, together with Zhang Ren, Liu Xuan and other generals, resisted Liu Bei in the fuxian area, but was defeated by Liu Bei one after another. Zhang Ren and the others retreated to Mianzhu, and Wu Yi chose to lead the crowd to surrender to Liu Bei. After Liu Bei took Yizhou, he appointed Wu Yi as a protector, and in order to win over Wu Yi, he married Wu Yi's sister as his wife, so that Wu Yi began to do things for him with a dead heart.

Good birds choose trees to perch, and Zhang Song, Fazheng and others all want to follow a virtuous lord. Zhuge Liang said: Liu Zhang is weak and weak, and the wise man thinks of Mingjun. Liu Zhang was abandoned by Zhang Song and others because of his "weakness".
