Literature/Calligraphy
99% of people who love calligraphy are good people.
I dare not assert this statement. But a calligrapher I know is really a good person. He is Mr. Li Honghai, a military calligrapher.
Mr. Hong Hai studied under Master Qi Gong and now enjoys a good reputation in the world of calligraphy.
I know Mr. Hong Hai in Luxembourg. That year he went to Europe to attend an exhibition and stopped by to visit Luxembourg. Hong Hai's first impression on me was that there was both the heroic frankness of a soldier and the timeless style of Qi Gong font. We had a great conversation at first sight. He wrote a couplet to the embassy: the ancient castle is elegant, and the pine forest is clear. Hanging in the hall, it adds to the charm of Chinese culture. He also happily waved his hand and left an ink treasure for the staff of the embassy.
Since then, the interaction with Mr. Hong Hai has continued so naturally and plainly.
One year Mr. Hong Hai was doing a solo exhibition of calligraphy in France, and I happened to pass by, and we met again. Hong Hai enthusiastically pulled me to his room and tasted tea and talked. Several young diplomats I knew admired Mr. Hong Hai, eager to get his ink treasure, and asked me for it. Mr. Hong Hai did not hesitate, moved his desk by himself, laid out the paper under simple conditions, and was busy until midnight. This incident is a good story.
In 2013, Hong Hai participated in the China-Africa Forum Roundtable as a special invited director, and we came together again. He made a calligraphy display during the conference and generously gave gifts to Chinese and foreign guests. Mr. Hong Hai has a lot of cultural treasures in his belly, and while waving, he explains the basic knowledge of pen, ink and paper, and quotes the scriptures, which benefits people a lot. As a master calligrapher, you can't see the indifference in Honghai, but let you feel the warmth of humility and kindness.
There is a way to learn books: that is, high quality and rich learning. I saw these two points in Mr. Hong Hai and felt them in my dealings with him.
Mr. Hong Hai has a grateful heart. He attributed his intellectual achievements to the cultivation of his motherland and the teachings of his teachers. I think that a person who knows gratitude must be a generous person, a person who gives kindness, and a person with a good heart.
Mr. Hong Hai is such a person.
