Qi Jiguang, also spelled Yuanjing, was a famous general of the Ming Dynasty, a national hero, an outstanding military expert, calligrapher, and poet.
The Southern Expedition against the Wokou and the formation of the Qi family army, which for a time became famous and far-reaching, defended the safety and danger of the people in the southern coastal areas; the Northern Imperial Tatars, in accordance with local conditions, used danger to control congestion, organized the construction of the Jinshanling Great Wall, and complemented each other in attack and defense, and promoted the peaceful development of the famous ethnic groups.
As a military man, his contributions went far beyond that. Qi Jiguang improved weapons, invented the Qi military knife, compiled the Qi family fist, and pioneered the "Mandarin Duck Array", which not only played a role in resisting foreign invasion and defending the country at that time, but also played a role in pushing the long-term development of China's military and martial arts
In addition, Qi Jiguang was fond of poetry and art, and not only wrote military works such as "The New Book of Ji Xiao" and "The Actual Record of Military Training", but also left behind poems and chapters such as "The Collection of Zhi Zhi Tang", which at that time enjoyed the praise of "great and negative literary and martial talents like the public, and for a while there were few of them". The Compendium of the General Catalogue of the Four Libraries praised Qi Jiguang's poems as "quite strong in the law" and "the sound of near Yan Zhao".
In Qi Jiguang's hometown, today's Penglai, Shandong, there are still complete preservation of the Mother and Child Festival Filial Piety Arch and the Father and Son Governor Arch built by order to show his merits. After more than 400 years of wind and rain, it stands quietly and witnesses the vicissitudes of history.
"Qi Jiguang" is the third prize winner of the National College Students Network Culture Festival Micro Film Works Collection. "Qi Jiguang, as an outstanding military figure and a great national hero in Chinese history, his patriotic spirit and reform and innovation spirit are worthy of study and admiration by our descendants", the main creative students hope that through the film, the patriotic spirit of Qi Jiguang will be passed on to future generations, expressing that although the times are different, those who have contributed to the peaceful development of the motherland are worthy of praise.
Jointly sponsored by the Department of Ideological and Political Work of the Ministry of Education and the Network Social Work Bureau of the Central Cyberspace Administration, and undertaken by Wen Wei Po, the fourth "Collection of Micro-film Works for The National College Students Network Culture Festival" activity has received positive responses from colleges and young students across the country since its inception, and the response has been enthusiastic, and a total of 1801 works have been received from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions and 509 colleges and universities across the country, including 846 drama works and 955 comprehensive works.
