Songtsan Gampo quickly sent someone to apologize for his sins, and with 5,000 taels of gold and jewelry of equal value, he once again asked to marry a Tang Dynasty princess.
According to legend, at the same time that Songzan Gampo proposed to the Tang king, four kings, including Tianzhu and Dashi, also sent emissaries to propose. This time, Tang Taizong gave them the opportunity to select a clan woman and crown her as Princess Wencheng, preparing to use her as a choice with her relatives.

The second difficulty is to identify the mother-child relationship between a hundred mares and foals. Lu Dongzan separated the mare and the foal, did not give the foal water, and the next day, put the foal in the herd, and the thirsty foal immediately ran to his mother to suckle.
Tang Taizong also asked them to distinguish the mother-child relationship between 100 hens and chicks. Lu Dongzan sprinkled rice grain on the square, and the hens called their own chickens to eat, but some naughty chicks did not summon, and he imitated the call of the eagle, scaring the chickens into running under their mother's wings.
Third, in one day, a hundred marriage envoys were to kill a hundred sheep to eat the meat, and to drink 100 jars of wine and rub the skin. Lu Dongzan had his emissaries line up to slaughter sheep, rubbing their skins while drinking wine and eating small pieces of meat, completing all tasks in one day.
Fourth, distinguish the roots and stems of pine. Lu Dongzan transported the pine wood to the river, and the pine immediately sank to the roots, and the branches floated up, and the roots and branches were distinguished.
Fifth, Tang Taizong suddenly summoned emissaries into the palace urgently, and then immediately let them out, and whoever went the right way won. When Lu Dongzan came, he was afraid of going back to get lost and made a mark, so he followed the mark and walked out according to the way.
Sixth, 500 women dressed in the same clothes were listed in the main hall, and the envoys were asked to find out which one was the princess. Lu Dongzan had found the old man who served Princess Wencheng beforehand, and according to the old man's instructions and physical characteristics, he found the princess.
In this way, the Tubo emissaries won a complete victory in the competition, and Tang Taizong finally agreed to marry Princess Wencheng to Songzan Gampo.
03. Princess Wencheng went to Tubo and kissed
The Book of Tang records that in the fifteenth year of (Zhenguan), his wife was Princess Wencheng, the daughter of Emperor Wencheng, and the king of Zhaojiangxia, Daozong, escorted her, and built the kingdom of King Heyuan.
Princess Wencheng went far away to make peace, passing through Qinghai to Tibet, there were several rushing rivers on the road, and the rivers were relatively gentle in winter, so they chose to set off on the fifteenth day of the first month. After more than a month of arduous trekking against the wind and snow and fighting the wind and sand, I finally came to the source of the river with abundant water and grass in the spring and warm blossoms. This is the birthplace of the Yellow River, with herds of cattle and sheep, and Princess Wencheng, who is deeply worried about the harsh environment in Tubo, finally breathed a sigh of relief. They stop here for a rest.
Songtsen Gampo led the welcoming party to Heyuan, and he saw The Prince of Jiangxia, Daozong, who sent his relatives, and paid homage as a junior, which was very respectful. When he saw Princess Wencheng, Songzan Gampo was even more fascinated at first sight.
Princess Wencheng is naturally different from the Tubo woman, her gorgeous Central Plains costumes, dignified and elegant appearance, and extraordinary temperament deeply fascinated Songzan Gampo, a highland man, in front of her, he even felt a little ashamed of himself.
The procession of sending relatives and welcoming relatives hugged back and forth, welcoming Princess Wencheng into Some Cities, and under the auspices of Li Daozong, Songzan Gampo and Princess Wencheng held a grand wedding in accordance with the etiquette of the Han people.
The Tubo book "The Feast of the Sages" records that "Songtsen Gampo ascended to the throne of celebration and crowned Princess Wencheng as queen." ”
Princess Wencheng was a very extraordinary woman. Since she came to Tubo, she made Tubo her home. In life, he gave Song Zangan full of tenderness, and politically gave him the help he could. Princess Wencheng was graceful and beautiful, knowledgeable and capable, and Songtsen Gampo regarded her as a treasure.
Songtsen Gampo said that no tibetan kings had married a princess of shangguo, and he was the first, so he wanted to build a palace for the princess to boast about future generations, and the palace he built was the potala palace known to everyone.
Songtsen Gampo had great respect for Princess Wencheng, and he and his ministers often asked the princess about political life and other issues, and the princess discussed with them and patiently answered, but she only made suggestions, talked about opinions, and never interfered in politics, and the ministers also admired her very much. She carefully observed the people's sentiments of Tubo and devoted herself to improving the living conditions of the Tubo people, who regarded her as a god.
The Tubo people have a very bad custom of applying ochre clay to the face, saying that it can exorcise demons. Princess Wencheng carefully observed this habit and felt very bad, and she euphemistically presented her opinion to Songzan Gampo. Songtsen Gampo felt that it made sense and ordered it to be implemented.
Songtsen Gampo also took off his felt clothes and satin clothes, and ordered the children of the nobles to enroll in school and learn the Central Plains culture such as "Poetry" and "Books". This is all the influence of Princess Wencheng on him. He was willing to take her advice, willing to learn from her and her country, willing to change himself for her, what a deep love!
Princess Wencheng had a very high status in Tubo, and among the women of Songzan Gampo, only Princess Wencheng had the title of queen and enjoyed sacrifices after death. She enjoyed the marital happiness that a woman craves most.
The more difficult it is to get, the more it will be cherished.
Songtsan Gampo married a Tang Dynasty princess, the first time he was rejected; the second time he tried to threaten with force, but he was beaten; the third time, with a golden treasure, obediently came to ask for it, and only then did he get the opportunity to compete with others. Fortunately, the Tubo emissary Lu Dongzan was resourceful and asked Princess Wencheng to come to Tubo. Whether it is people or things, it is not easy to seek, it will be more precious, this is the common sentiment of people. If he had worked hard to get it, he would carefully hold it in his hand.

Songtsen Gampo asked to marry a Tang princess after his defeat, and he was weak in national strength. This determined that after he married the princess, even if he did not like her, he did not dare to disrespect her. Otherwise, bullying the Tang Dynasty princess is not giving the Tang Dynasty face, and he will certainly not have good fruit to eat.
