On May 23, the Liuzhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, together with the agricultural and rural departments of Laibin City and Guigang City, launched a joint inter-city law enforcement operation to combat illegal fishing during the 2021 Pearl River fishing ban period, seized three sesame swords and a batch of wild miscellaneous fish under national second-level protection, issued a "notice of prior registration and preservation" to the owner of the boat, and released the seized sesame swords and wild trash fish.

According to reports, on February 18 this year, Liuzhou City held a launching ceremony for the enhancement and stocking of fishery resources in the Liujiang River, and implemented the pearl river fishing ban period system with practical actions. In order to severely crack down on illegal fishing and strengthen the publicity of the fishing ban, on May 23, the agricultural and rural departments of Liuzhou City, Laibin City and Guigang City launched a joint law enforcement operation, starting from the Honghua Hydropower Station in Liuzhou City to the Qianjiang River Basin in Guigang City, using the method of publicity and inspection to carry out law enforcement inspections of the rivers and fishing boats along the way.

When the joint law enforcement vessel reached the Zhongchangtun River in Changsha Village, Liyong Town, it seized sesame swords and a batch of wild trash fish on fishing boats moored on the banks of the river. According to reports, the sesame sword (scientific name spotted trout) mainly grows in the Hongshui River Basin in the upper reaches of the Pearl River system, and was listed in the "List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection" in February this year, becoming a national second-level protected animal, prohibiting anyone from illegally fishing, buying, transporting, selling, processing and eating, otherwise it will violate the relevant laws and regulations of the Criminal Law.

After investigation, the ship was a "three noes" vessel, and the owner could not be contacted at the scene. Law enforcement personnel immediately issued a "notice of prior registration and preservation" to the owner of the ship by means of on-site service, requiring the parties to go to the Fishery Administration Law Enforcement Brigade of the Liuzhou Municipal Agricultural and Rural Bureau within 7 days to be investigated.

The purpose of this joint law enforcement by the three places is to guide the fishermen to abide by the fishing ban period system, consciously resist illegal fishing behavior, carry out cruise inspections of fishing vessel concentration berthing points, fish spawning grounds waters, aquatic germplasm resources protection areas, upstream and downstream water conservancy hubs, and waters bordering cities and counties according to local conditions, increase the intensity of inspections at the bazaar market, severely crack down on illegal fishing behaviors such as electricity, frying, and poisonous fish, carry out the work of cleaning up and banning illegal nets such as "absolute nets" and fishing-related "three noes" vessels, and investigate and deal with illegal sales of illegally caught fish. Ensure the smooth implementation of the fishing ban regime in inland waters.
