In February this year, with the approval of the State Council, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued a joint announcement announcing the newly adjusted National Key Wildlife Directory. Compared with the original "List", the new "List" adds 196 species (categories) of national second-level protected aquatic wild animals such as spotted carp, Wuyuan carp, Siberian sturgeon, Chinese crab, etc., among which the spotted turtle, that is, the "sesame sword", and the Wuyuan carp, are more common in Guangxi waters.
The reason why they are included in the scope of protection is simple, that is, the number of people living in the wild has decreased dramatically.

In the more than 4 years since the Laokou Fish Breeding Station was put into use, it has been artificially breeding fingerlings such as jaylin, bighead carp, bream and other fish species, and has cumulatively released 5 million fish into the Yongjiang River, and the medium- and long-term goal of the breeding station is to improve the breeding technology and do artificial breeding for the rare fish species in the Yongjiang River, such as long-rumped fish, big-eyed curlfish and other fish species, to protect their biodiversity.

According to the "Guangxi Freshwater Fish Chronicle" and "Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Inland Water Fisheries Natural Research Survey Report" and other research results, once, the Yongjiang River section recorded 102 species of fish, at present, this number may have declined.
