Synopsis

The main contents of "The Wizard of Oz":

The Wizard of Oz is a typical coming-of-age novel. The protagonist, Dorothy, is an ordinary girl who lives in the countryside with her uncles and aunts, has few friends, and lives a monotonous life. But after a fantastic journey, she grew up and developed the ability to make herself independent.

The first step in her growth was that when she came to the magical upper ground, no one could tell her how to get home, and everything was up to her to figure it out. Such difficulties can be a big challenge for a little girl, especially in an unfamiliar environment where there are no relatives to turn to.

Making friends is the second step in Dorothy's growth, and these experiences tell the reader that if you want to have friends to treat you well, you should treat your friends well first. It also promotes the act of helping others and encourages children to take care of others with a kind heart.

During the trip, not only did Dorothy grow, but her friends also gained the desired qualities. The Scarecrow has no brains, so it's thought to be the reason he's not smart. When Dorothy and his party encounter dangers during their journey, the Scarecrow always tries his best to find a way to get through the crisis.

At first his ideas were inappropriate, but after dealing with many problems, he finally became the smartest of the four friends. The tin woodcutter made of metal has no heart, and he thinks he can't feel love or the emotions of human beings. But by communicating with friends on the go, protecting others and helping the weak in need.

At the end of the story, the tin woodcutter becomes a well-intentioned, sentient character. Another very interesting character is the timid lion. Although it is the strongest creature in the story, he is terrified and cowardly about everything. When friends get into trouble, it starts to get brave.

It fought many enemies such as flying monkeys and beasts, and eventually transformed into a brave male lion and became the leader of the beasts.

About the Author

This book is the masterpiece of the American writer Frank Baum.

Frank Baum (1856–1919) was an American writer of children's literature. Born in New York State. His father was a cooper who later made a fortune by drilling for oil in Pennsylvania.

Baum spent his childhood on his father's large estate and grew up writing. After Baum became a father, he often recalled the stories he had heard in his childhood. He found the stories boring and dull, full of nasty morals and admonitions.

In 1897, he compiled a collection of essays called "The Story of Mother Goose", which was successfully published, and published a collection of small poems and a children's song "The Book of Father Goose". The book is accompanied by beautiful illustrations, all painted by his friend artist W.W. W. Dunslow. Since then, three more rhyming poems and short stories have been published.

In 1900, at the age of 45, Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz (the Magician of the Land of Oates). Its first edition was also illustrated by Dunslow. The sophistication of its printing is comparable to that of Daddy Goose's Book. The Wizard of Oz is the first appreciated fairy tale of the 20th century in the history of American children's literature, and has been marketed since its publication.
