Liu Lei: Following in his father's footsteps, he actively participated in the cause of public security

For Liu Lei, this Qingming had a pain that he had never had before. His father, Liu Yongsheng, has long endured illness and stuck to the frontline of the fight against the epidemic, leaving him forever in October 2020.

After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Liu Yongsheng, who was the captain of the Shuanggang Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Jinnan Branch of the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau, felt unwell, but he took the initiative to stick to the front line of the "epidemic" by enduring the illness. In July 2020, Liu Yongsheng was diagnosed with liver cancer and left this world forever on October 19.

In Liu Lei's memory, his father was always very busy and did not have time to accompany his family to the park and take himself to training classes. When he was a child, he did not understand his father very much, and he also hoped that his father, like the fathers of other children, could accompany him more. However, as he grew up, Liu Lei gradually understood that "loyalty to the party, service to the people, fair law enforcement, and strict discipline" is his father's responsibility and mission, and this has become the unremitting pursuit in Liu Lei's heart. When filling out the college entrance examination volunteer, he did not hesitate to choose the Tianjin Public Security Police Officers Vocational College, determined to become a people's policeman who performed his duties like his father.

Choosing to become a people's policeman is not only choosing a profession, but also shouldering a responsibility, Liu Lei used his solemn commitment to express his deepest love for his father. On the eve of the Qingming Dynasty this year, Liu Lei wrote such a letter to his father:

father:

We haven't spoken face to face for half a year, and I miss you so much. Whenever night falls, looking at the stars in the sky, I always recall the bits and pieces of my former life.

In the past, when you were wearing a police uniform, the radio in your hand was always reluctant to turn off, the notebook was always densely packed with records of what you were thinking about work and study, you were always interrupted by the work phone when the family sat together to eat, no matter how late you received the task, you always rushed to the unit immediately, and there was always an empty seat at the dinner table on my birthday... These images pop up in my memory from time to time.

I didn't understand it when I was a kid and often asked, "Why are you so busy at work?" Every time you smile and say to me, "Wait until Daddy is busy for a while before I accompany you." "I really want to sit down with you and talk quietly, but I am always interrupted by your busy phone. At home, the most I want to hear is the phrase you say when you leave work, "Son, I'm back," but now I can't hear it anymore.

You are tormented by the disease and you bravely fight it, you are strong. You don't forget about the unit in the hospital bed, I stay in bed at night, and I can still hear you murmuring about work in your mouth.

Today, I am dressed in a police uniform and have become a student of the police academy, and the police badge on my head spurs me to move forward. You are my hero and role model, and your serious and responsible attitude towards your work is worth learning and inheriting. In the future, I will follow in your footsteps, actively devote myself to your beloved public security cause, let the spirit of public security pass on the torch, and use my regretless youth to guard the peace of all families.

Always love your son Liu Lei

After writing this letter, Liu Lei's eyes were already wet. "I will take the nostalgia of my father as the strength of the struggle for the cause of public security, and be a policeman who is dedicated to the people like my father." Liu Lei told reporters.
