"The Banner of the Fathers"

When we look back at history, in 1934, in order to get rid of the encirclement and pursuit of the Kuomintang army, the Red Army was forced to carry out a strategic shift and start the Long March. On the road of the Long March, the soldiers of the Red Army needed to overcome difficulties and obstacles, persist all the way, make fearless sacrifices, and finally win the victory of the Long March, creating a great miracle in the history of human warfare. What is the belief that supports them to victory, and what is the original intention that they have not forgotten on the road of glory?

This issue of the "Banner of the Father's Generation" series of open classes invited Wang Taihe, a descendant of the revolution, to tell us about his father, Major General Wang Yaonan, who opened the road in every mountain and built a bridge in the Long March, as well as the origin of the "red scarf" and the advantages of the "tunnel warfare" combat method. With a vivid story, we invite us to remember those heroes who were not born great, but made great sacrifices.
Major General Wang Yaonan
Major General Wang Yaonan (1911-1984), whose life was a history of Chinese engineers and soldiers, so comrades called him the King of Engineers, who successively experienced the Anyuan Strike, the Sanwan Reorganization, the Jinggangshan Struggle, five anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaigns, the 25,000-mile Long March, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea; organized and commanded mine warfare, tunnel warfare; the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. In September 1955, Wang Yaonan was awarded the rank of Major General of the Engineer Corps. In 1960, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the PLA Corps of Engineers Command. In 1970, Wang Yaonan served as deputy commander of the Engineer Corps. Chinese one of the founders of the engineering corps of the People's Liberation Army, and has the titles of "King of Engineers", "King of Mines", "King of Explosions" and so on. He has won the General Order Commendation of the Whole Army for eight consecutive times, and has successively won the Order of August 1 of the Second Class, the Order of Independence and Freedom of the First Class, the Liberation Medal of the First Class, the Red Star Medal of the Second Class and the Red Flag Medal. Wang Yaonan has been a pioneer in previous battles, always fighting in the front line as an engineer commander. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, many film and television works reflect the moving stories during the Long March, such as the movie "Mine Warfare", wang Yaonan served as military director, and "Anyuan Children's Regiment" was also based on Wang Yaonan.
Course content
This year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and the party Central Committee calls on all comrades in the party to study history clearly and rationally, increase credibility in studying history, revere morality in history, study history in practice, study party history, enlighten the mind, do practical things, and open up a new situation.
