Chen Shunguo, a 46-year-old native of Shrimp Town, has been in the chili pepper business for 28 years since he learned to do business at the age of 18.
"At first, I went to the countryside with my back on my back, collected peppers and returned to shrimp town to sell on the ground. At that time, foreigners could collect two or three thousand pounds of peppers at a time and ship them by train. Chen Shunguo recalled.
Later, Chen Shunguo rented a 100-square-meter façade at the farmers' market and earned 40,000 to 50,000 yuan a year. Guizhou is building the country's only chaotian pepper advantage characteristic industrial cluster. In recent years, Guizhou has selected and bred 183 new varieties of peppers such as "Qian spicy" and "Qian pepper", and more than 120 varieties have been introduced and screened.
"There are many varieties, the price is chaotic, and there is no bottom in the heart of planting peppers." Li Wei said that as a grower, what he is most worried about is that the price will be stable in the coming year.
At the end of 2018, the Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guizhou Province launched the China Zunyi Chaotian Pepper (Dried Pepper) Wholesale Price Index. As the country's first provincial and ministerial jointly built characteristic agricultural product price index, it reflects the price trend of the pepper market after it is launched, so that the transaction gradually realizes "knowing what is in mind".

Now, Pepper City irregularly holds indices, futures, finance and other knowledge training for pepper brokers to improve their ability to hedge risks according to changes in market information.
