Daisan Messenger: 600,000 kilometers of postal routes

On October 28, Wu Yiyang drove to deliver mail to villagers.

Wu Yiyang, 49, is a postman at the Beizhong Branch of the Taihu County Branch of China Post Group Co., Ltd. in Anhui Province and has been working in postal work for 21 years. The "Tongshan Post Road" he is responsible for is more than 100 kilometers long, and the mountain road is rugged and curved, and it takes seven or eight hours to make a round trip.

In 2000, Wu Yiyang was hired as a local postman. "In 1998, when a neighbor's child was admitted to college, the postman crossed the mountains and sent the acceptance letter, and at that time, he felt that the job was glorious and meaningful, so he had the idea of being a postman." Wu Yiyang said.

Tongshan Postal Road covers 7 administrative villages and more than 15,000 villagers, which are scattered deep in the mountains, and Wu Yiyang has become an important channel for villagers to connect with the outside world.

For 21 years, from the initial walking class, bicycle class to motorcycle class, and then to today's car class, no matter how the delivery method changes, Wu Yiyang has been sticking to the road, six days a week, thunder and lightning. By rough calculations, he has traveled more than 600,000 kilometers of postal routes and sent more than 500,000 copies of newspapers, letters, remittance slips, acceptance letters and parcels.

In addition to his own work, Wu Yiyang often helps the elderly in the village to purchase medicines, daily necessities, etc., and he also uses his own expertise to guide villagers to develop rural e-commerce, transport agricultural products from the mountains out of the mountains, and help rural revitalization.

Wu Yiyang said that as long as the villagers need it, he will always guard this postal route. In 2020, Wu Yiyang won the title of "National Model Worker".
