In 2004, he was admitted to the Full Scholarship for a PhD in the United Kingdom and became a lifelong senior engineer at Oracle UK. His main research direction is cloud computing, especially cloud computing and information security in big data; he and his team have created the most advanced cloud computing and big data technologies in South China and even the whole country from scratch.

Reporter: Can you tell us about cloud computing and big data in layman's terms, and why pay special attention to the field of information security?
Zhao Gansen: Cloud computing and big data are the core information technologies developed in the past decade, and have deeply penetrated into our lives and industries. Modern information technology represented by this has become the core productivity to a certain extent, with the help of it, it can enhance traditional industries, achieve curve overtaking in technological innovation, and change all aspects of human beings.
For example, many smart phones provide cloud services, you can put all the photos on the phone, the address book are placed in the "cloud", when changing the phone or on another device, as long as you log in, you can copy and use the data. And then what can be done with this data, the imagination space inside is too large. Therefore, information security is particularly important.
On the one hand, we must fully tap and make use of big data; on the other hand, we must attach importance to information security from the national strategic level. Cloud computing is like a turbulent sea, with massive information flows on all sides. To achieve information security in cloud computing, it is a bit like a ship floating on this sea, and it needs to be kept stationary, not high, not low, not left or right. For example, cloud computing runs very fast, but also to be able to brake the car in time, we have developed a set of operating systems, and the work done in security is to make it brake.
Reporter: Everyone says that cloud computing and big data are the infrastructure of modern cities, what opportunities does Dongguan face for the development of digital economy?
Zhao Gansen: Strictly speaking, it should be called a new generation of infrastructure for smart cities. The dependence of traditional industrial cities on informatization is limited, but in the context of the profound technological changes in the world, the application of information technology has become as important as the roads, bridges, hydropower and water and electricity of the industrial age. In order to improve the level of intelligence and digitalization of traditional industries, the only way to rely on cloud computing and big data is through the Internet.
Dongguan's development of cloud computing and big data industries has ushered in a good opportunity for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Corridor. The east bank of the Pearl River is dominated by the electronic information industry, and the spillover of Guangzhou and Shenzhen will surely radiate to Dongguan. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has the potential to build a global big data "Silicon Valley", that is, a big data innovation center and industrial agglomeration center, and Dongguan is to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Reporter: How should Dongguan position itself and where are its advantages?
Zhao Gansen: Cloud computing and big data contain two parts: software and hardware, Dongguan's software and information service industry is not particularly strong, but the electronic information manufacturing industry is very strong. Dongguan's advantages at the hardware level have created a good foundation for the development of the digital economy. At the same time, Dongguan Has introduced many scientific research platforms, such as the Cloud Computing Incubation Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is the earliest batch of scientific research institutions in China to do cloud computing. It can be said that Dongguan has seized the opportunity, chosen the right direction, and has a good start.
Dongguan's advantage lies in the accumulation of middle-level skilled talents, complete manufacturing chains, and can make more fuss about the industrial chain of the digital economy. For example, in the field of data terminals, enterprises such as Huawei and OPPO are used well to form a unique advantage of Dongguan. For another example, the atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship in Dongguan is very pragmatic, and it is necessary to carry forward this. I think these points will be the future direction and very important advantages of Dongguan.
Reporter: As a young talent who went out of Dongguan, do you have anything to say about the youth of Dongguan and any suggestions for the introduction of talents in Dongguan City?
Zhao Gansen: I am also the president of the Dongguan Young Talents Growth Promotion Association, and from the objective conditions, the platform for the growth of young talents in Dongguan is still a bit far from that of the north, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. At the same time, Dongguan's style is pragmatic, too pragmatic, young people will not be confident or not bold enough. I very much hope that the young people in Dongguan can be more open-minded, innovate and explore unknown areas, and make good use of the advantages of hard work, hard work, pragmatism and sincerity.
In terms of talent construction, first, while seeking increments, we must not ignore the stock. Dongguan itself has many outstanding young talents, and it can play a huge role in using them well.
